If you drop the image ... yeah its a good heavy metal record . The thing is that most extreme fans in the metal extreme are pretty narrow and it seems they forget how metal was before thrash ...

Say what you want about this period of Celtic Frost, there is some catchy shit in there. Cherry Orchards in particular, there's something bloody insanely addictive about that song.

Tom, he was TRUE before anyone really defined what TRUE meant, then he came back and slapped everyone in the face. Celtic Frost: Their WHOLE Discography is excellent and appealing to my ears. They were/are WAAAY AHEAD of their time...

The album was probably the heaviest glam album ever, but they are absolutely ridiculous to look at. And for that to come from one of the all time darkest, crustiest, HEAVY and original bands ever is one of the most unexpected and baffling artistic redirects ever. And I mean EVER. How Tom, with his intellect, expected that to be accepted is mind boggling. And also damn funny.

I love this album as much as Morbid Tales or Mega Therion. Yeah it's different, almost as if Celtic Frost were pretending to be a glam band but they are still fucking Celtic Frost and can't escape that fact. A way better album then Into The Pandemonium.

Are you deaf or just an imbecile ? "Into the pandemonium " was their milestone album where all the ideas hinted at in " To Mega Therion " fully blossomed - actually a template to " Monotheist " which explores pretty much the same ideas , only more contrived and updated in some ways . I do agree with half your comment though :-)
@Nissardpertugiu

Well to me its completly different .. Into the pandemonium is one of most groundbreaking album since 70s originators . Coldlake has good more .. traditional heavy songs with T.Rex groove to it , and funky stuff .. With thrashier edge here and there . If you drop the image ( that even no glam music based bands had too ). Its not the shit record than some say . Its like Budgie meets the Sweet , and t. REX AND saxon .. Much more than Poison . People are deaf .

Best Celtic Frost album :D They were willing to betray the expectation of their own fans. Cherry Orchards is what got me into them. It was just so fucking disgusting that i had to dive in and start getting all their albums right after that. Into Mega Therion was my first cd, 6 months before i owned a cd player (Ii'm forward thinking). The cover scared the shit out of me when i was 15 haha Their new shit? just sounds derivative of new metal...

Above all : Tom Warrior sounds, seems REAL, HONEST - that´s where he was at, what he was at the time , why deny and anethematize this period nowadays just cause you were in a great place at the time with your ex and everything fit together ? Life is change as you so obviously point out, this album is fucking great , I loved it at the time, only reason my mates did not was cause of the back cover´s picture where you look like a very cartoonish version of Cinderella or some glamcock band. The music was still Celtic Frost , some of these songs are as great to me as anything you´ve ever recorded. Guess the " R U Morbid ? " type of bs is what seemed more profitable to you after fail - fail - fail ( from a commercial viewpoint, of course ), specially after having realized the so called 2nd wave of BM bs were incredibly indebted to ideas you helped pioneer . Well, and yeah, not discarding changes in Tom´s personal life, a divorce can put you into a very anti - "Roses like wine" mood , for sure . Having said that I thought " Monotheist " was as solid as anything you ever did ... and so is Triptykon for that matter .

So you didn't even bother to give it a chance. That's why bands die and don't get noticed, people either ignore the band or just leave them in the dirt whenever they don't play or look the way you want them to. Just because they change their look doesn't mean they suddenly sound shit, Idk where tf that retarded logic comes from.

@@punkrock1989 you gotta understand the times it was. Back in the mid 80's you were either into what we saw as "real metal" or glam or what we called "poseurs". There was no in between so seeing celtic frost look a glam band was a betrayal to their fans. It may sound petty to you and you could be right but that's how it was back then

They never were tthrash. They had speed moments but they were an original metal band that gave birth / perfected what Death and black metal in others ways , Then avant guard and more gothic . When you have the musical education they did in 70's and as more broaden driven musicians , artist are .. In this established form , Thrash in their codes is indeed Boring
@Nissardpertugiu

Mediaticly thrash still around . Old bands can produce still good stuff but 97% of new bands just apply fixed patterns and copycat the same overdone codes that thrash did for 36 years . Its narrow its predictible and ...its boring .. It had already been done to death

metalheadoldschol, I get what your saying. Maybe not thrash, more gothey?? but when I first heard dethroned emperor, my band immediately covered the tune in 1986 along with our own originals as our set. This was part of the underground movement at the time, and I found it far from boring. I feel Celtic frost was a big influence as to what metal is even today. Saw Obituary play in 2019 and they had no problem covering “circle of the tyrants” within in their set. Thumbs up!!👍🏼

Pop rock ? A lot of cold lake is totally on british metal old school 70s and early 80s stuff . And still heavier than sunsets most bands Just listen with you ears thinking that they were something before extreme metal . Even eagles , Hanoi , roses without thorns are thrashy too etc.. Not eyes .

It takes time for a great album to find its fan base. The only reason he’s embarrassed is that the audience and industry went more Detroit less LA. They should have just stayed Swiss or maybe taken some cues from Voivod
