This method makes so much more sense than the laborious labor I have put into other techniques. And it would appear that if you have left over "powder" you could just seal it up too for future use? Thanks for a great professional video with very clear instructions. Very much appreciated. New subscriber because of it.

Great video. 😊 Could you tell me why it needs to be dried first? If we took wet clay and added water to it, then mixed that up with a blender or something to make the same whippy texture, would that work?
@UmiCeramics
@UmiCeramics 2 ай бұрын
Thank you! Once it's dry, you can turn it into powder. That way you can control the final consistency a little more precisely by slowly adding water. On the other hand, when you start from a wet piece and add water, the final consistency will most likely be too liquid/fluid, in which case you should wait for the water to evaporate so that the slip is a little denser. You can get slip in both ways, and both have their pros and cons. But this way always seemed more practical to me! I hope my answer is helpful!

@UmiCeramics
@UmiCeramics 2 жыл бұрын

Hey I'm sorry but I think it's better to just mix clay and water. Let it sit for a while and it'll be easy to mix. Airbone dust from dry clay is dangerous for lungs 🥺
@UmiCeramics
@UmiCeramics 2 жыл бұрын
This is the most efficient way to do it and allows you to really control the density of your slip. Do not be afraid of dust, it's an intrinsic part of ceramics, just be very careful, I recommend using a mask and safety glasses!
