I am a Fairy doll maker for 35 years… I have just found Cernit… it by far surpasses the other clays. I feel it’s the best clay I’ve worked with. Definitely the strongest.

I'm from South Africa and Cernit is the only clay I use, as Premo and the other brands associated to it are very difficult to find unless you buy online and it's very expensive. I managed to get a few bricks of Premo and I way prefer Cernit in both price and quality. I find it gives a lovely porcelain finish which is great as I use it predominantly to make jewellery.

This is my most favourite make of clay!

I commented before, but I take it back...now I can see why you love premo, oh wow, its just amazing...it was a happy accident, I went to micheals one day and they ran out of the yellow fimo colors, so I was forced to purchase premo cadmium yellow and I'm SO glad I gave it a chance, when mixed with fimo its less gooey but the gooeyness makes the colors mix a lot better (to make browns, so it takes all 3 primaries + more I've added to my recipe), and its the best mix so far!!! Just gorgeous - I am so excited I've been doing trial and error for months - and I have so much "wrong colored" clay left over for my doll house structure - so no worries about "waste" (I am making a round shaped dollhouse so clay is better to use instead of wood, with reinforcements of course) I don't really want to leech my clay I'm worried the colors might leech out as well, I'll just use cornstarch a bit to keep fingerprints and things at bay, its not too soft its good I am happy with it.

We moved from The Netherlands to the Caribbean 3 years ago and I have been waiting for Cernit to cross the ocean now that I have to order everything in the US. I was wondering if you could try a mica shift with the Cernit? I have seen on one of the Dutch sites (craftliners blog) that apparently the mica in the Glamour series is a bit too little to achieve a good mica shift, but that adding the powder manually improves the shifting? It is not clear as to how much mica powder should be added, so perhaps it would be something to delve into? Thanks again for all your reviews. I always enjoy the structured approach very much.

Hi Cindy, have you noticed differences in the texture of the different colors of clay in both premo or fimo (I know you don't use fimo, so I guess this question is for premo)? I've noticed especially with premo, the colored clays are very gooey and squishy, same with fimo darker colors like browns, but the lighter more primary colors are not, same with white. When I run them through the pasta machine it becomes more noticeable...I haven't tried to leech it, but not sure if that will help. Thanks!

I used cernit in 2004 to make some doll house furniture. It is very strong and withstood years of kids playing with it.

If you add a bit of translucent to a clay (Premo Fuchsia for example) that darkens when baking, will it stay truer to its raw color when it is baked?

Hey, speaking of softener,, I have some of the Fimo one, I think, and it says on the wrapping to only mix one third softener to two thirds clay, and I was wondering why. Can you do a video on what happens if you change the proportion? Does the softener even cure if baked on its own?

What a wonderful review! Looks like this is a definite clay to use. You didn’t mention the price comparison to premo or other brands, although I believe you said these were gifted to you. You are so thorough! Katie Gordon is an artist who has been working in pmc for 1-2 years? I can’t really recall. She loves the Cernit clear translucent the best, and it shows in her work. Can we use our food ovens for pmc?

Is their Translucent clay even better than the Fimo translucent? Is it clearer and more transparent?

I purchased the Cernit Oplaline and it is so soft that is pretty much useless. I am going to try putting it the fridge for a few hours but I am doubtful. I did do a test piece and rubbed mica power on it , baked it and after baking the mica power rubbed off immediately. Not good.

cernit polimer clay need som special condition for depositing?(sorry for my bad english):)

I love Cernit but it's so hard to get all the colours in Australia same with Prado I am hoping that as they get popular here then it will be easier to find 🙃

The Shiny range do seem quite squishy compared to the rest. I've used quite a lot of Cernit and none of the ranges seem as squishy overall as the Shiny.

I have a question about cernit is it flexible like fimo once it is baked? Thank you.

I'm finding that cernit will stick oddly to my acrylic roller at times as well as to my mammoth rollers. It seems to like my atlas metal rollers just fine. I'm wondering if that's why there is a cernit stainless steel roller sold on the clay factory site? It also seems to gum up a bit with water. That said, I'm still enjoying my cernit quite a bit! Learning how to work with it is helping quite a bit!

I tried cernit, but it was damn sticky to the roller and the acrylic board 😞and flowy, Just ruined the shape when tried to pick up to put. In baking tray. Not sure if i was doing anything wrong. Never happened with premo

I followed your amazon link and wow 40 bucks per package >.< I have worked with CERNIT before and it was really good clay. I perched it from Fire Mountain Beads , they sell the nature line for around 5 dollers per 2 ounce block. So I would Suggest geting it there if you live in the US.

I'm having a hard time with the translucent bc it's so ridiculously soft. It comes out if the package so soft that I can set it down and it will start flattening on its own. After working with it, it turns so soft that it's almost a liquid. I've tried mixing regular premo with it, and mica, and chalk, etc. I can't get it solid enough to even hold a shape. With normal clay you can put between paper and it will harden it up a little by leeching the oils. With cernit translucent it will just stick hard to the paper and be impossible to remove. Do you have any tips for hardening it some? I've been putting it in the freezer, but that isn't ideal. I've not made anything successfully with it yet bc it's so soft. 😭

Can you mix the Cernit translucent with any colour or brand, please Cindy?

I have wanted to try this clay for a while now, after this review I am even more interested. The only problem is that it is way to expensive. For one 56 gram block of black it is almost $10.00 with shipping. I found other colors for much more than that. This makes me very sad, because if this was more cost effective and easier to purchase I would definitely use this clay.

cernit number one is too hard breaks when i want to work with it, abouth 45 minutes trying to work is quite frustrating. will not recommend
