The first day of riding my CRF300L Rally in Death Valley took us to some of the coolest sights in the area including Cerro Gordo (famous from the ‪@GhostTownLiving‬ KZfaq Channel), the Reward Mine, and the Alabama Hills (filming location for Django Unchained, Tremors, Iron Man, and more).
Huge thanks to ‪@BigRockMoto‬ and friends for showing me around the Death Valley area.
I've been a fan of Brent Underwood's Cerro Gordo KZfaq channel for a while, so I was stoked to get the opportunity to ride up to visit the ghost town and check out some of the cool artifacts in the mine.
Afterward, I rode my Honda CRF300L Rally up to and then INTO the Reward Mine, which is an incredibly unique experience.
Then we visited the famous Alabama Hills where some of my favorite movies were filmed.
Riding motorcycles in Death Valley is an amazing adventure.
The Death Valley Noob Rally is an annual gathering put on by the fine folks over at the ADVRider.com forums.
Big thanks to ‪@SlowEddie‬ for the excellent editing work!

I was in Balarat and Goler wash area in my 4Runner and noticed all the bikes and figured that there must be a rally event. The weather was perfect and the desert was very green. There was a nice yellow flower bloom in the in Panamint area, I helped load a broke down bike into the back of a truck out by the gold mine, Death Valley is amazing......

Noobs ride looked like a blast. Cave ride was exiting and a little nerve wracking, imagine engine quitting while deep inside. I'm more than a little disappointed in the local hooligans for not having a stuffed Bigfoot or some other creature around one of those bends 😅

Nice Video, I enjoyed it!! I lived 20 years in that area, (Oregon Coast now for the past 20) as far as camping goes, it would get kinda cool in the high desert at night, you would be by the fire (we sat on the ground typically) I can't count how many times I got up and scorpions would be hiding under my ass to keep warm lol (dont leave your boots out all night) The other thing we typically did was straight up desert riding, meaning, we didn't ride on the roads we were out in the actual desert, but on dirt bikes not adv bikes which might be a bit heavy for that. Snakes out there as well so you just had to keep an eye (ear) out for them. Usually if you heard them you were toooo close! You went at a great time of year. Lots of horses and mules out there in certain areas.

Nice video! I made a solo camping/riding trip that same weekend and stayed at Tuttle Creek Campground. Attempted to get to Cerro Gordo via Swansea Road. That was a challenging climb but doable. The issue was I hit snow before I got to the top and had to come back down. Can't say it wasn't anticipated, but worth a try. Met a noob attendee at Mt. Whitney Restaurant in Lone Pine and heard about the rally. Then rode around Alabama Hills which was awesome. Eastern Sierra's are great dual sporting! Need to make another trip back to see Cerro Gordo and Reward Mine.

Cerro Gordo had the town closed sign out each time I tried to go last weekend so I didn't end up making it, but that gives me a good excuse to get back out there and I'm more than ok with that. Such a beautiful area to hang out and ride around in. I also got my first drop on the new bike in Alabama Hills when we took a wrong turn and found some deeper sandy bits so now I need to give it a name. For gear its all about layers when you are riding in the desert. Temps change quickly.

Nice! I rode my BMW up to Cerro Gordo the year before the American Hotel burned down, there was a lot of neat stuff and history in it, so sad it was all lost😢. I went up there last August in my 4runner and camped on the other side of his mountain. I see he's made more progress on the new Hotel, he hasn't had many update videos lately. Looking fwd to the next video.

Nice footage but the autofocus of the Insta ace is definitely NOT capable to difference between close objects (your windshield) and mid-field objects (the trail up to app. 15ft in front of the bike). Causing disgusting flickering & irritations of the beautiful scenery ! Independent of all reviews about the Insta, this here is the " real life" - review that shows me why I will NOT buy this camera👎. Thanks a lot 👍
