Your love of the Trans Alp plus hatred of this is truly curious.

No - it's the Go 3S. Significant improvement in image quality, not just the upgrade to 4K.

With a few basic mods (skid plate, barkbusters, and some kind of rack system), it's an amazing DS/Adventure bike. Much lighter than most, plenty of power. KTM should just update it with a bigger tank and a TFT screen, call it a KTM690 Adventure and dominate the market. But they probably wont. If you just wanna street ride and pretend to be and "adventure" ride to Starbucks, just stick to your 500+ pound bike with a low fender and street tires.

A Friend rides this bike and I've done about 6 hours off road on it. I found it underpowered in terms of torque. But, honestly, my standard bike is an xt500!

Ive had bad luck with the front tire pushing on my wr250r. Dont recommend it. The rear is great though. Theres obviously better out there but these seem to compete well for the price.

Ben, don’t be hard on yourself. Any off-road riding is an EXTREMELY challenging thing to do. It doesn’t matter how in shape you are. I know I am right there with you, but I love to “embrace the suck” as I learned in the Army. I wish I could go on some of these types of events. I am stuck in Kansas though, and have not found many good places to ride… also I learned the hard way to not go on your own.. I also dont have friends with dual sport or adv bikes.. Keep up the excellent work Ben! I love to watch your progress and adventures!

I think it’s an ok bike but a tried and true well sorted xr650 will do everything the 690 will do. The 690 platform also turns like a dead dog.

Hey man, saw you at the BMW MOA national as I rode by on my 690 with Nomad fairing - I saw you checking it out. Now I see why you had probably just filmed this episode. Turned around to talk to you but you were busy. Anyway with a fairing and some luggage and a decent seat the 690 is absolutely a great lightweight touring rig. I rode mine to AK last year and did over 9000 miles. Rode to the MOA this year and then did 400 miles of the TAT fully loaded from Port Orford to Prineville. Just got home (Montrose, CO) yesterday and this trip was 3300 miles. Mine is a 2015 and I’m thinking of eventually getting the newer fully counterbalanced version so was disappointed that you didn’t care for it, but guess it saved your wallet. BTW I started my KTM love affair with a 2000 640 Adventure that I ended up putting 25k miles on.

If you're a side sleeper I would recommend a knee pillow. I find this essential at all times these days.

man yall need to look into a hammock its way better than a tent with half the size and work to set it up plus you dont have to worry about ground sheets or where you set it up to not get flooded when it rains its also really comfortable and great at keeping you warm for most of the year

It’s a blank canvas from the dealer, turn it into a supermoto, dual sport, or full on rally bike. It would be cool if you tried somebody’s already modded rally set up. It’s weird but it grows on you. But appreciate the honest opinion.

My man! I am picking up my new Transalp next week. They are installing the factory heated grips and usb plug for me. FYI, my well meaning salesman knew none of what you just showed us. Just stood there while I fumbled through the menus. Sigh. Thanks for the great video! Saved to "watch later" so I can get another briefing!

It’s an interesting bike, doesn’t have the comfort or smoothness of a twin cylinder adventure tourer, and not as capable of road as a ktm500exc. Sort of a can do everything but doesn’t excel at anything

Not sure I’d like a KTM, never rode one. Loved my modded DR650 and really like my DRZ400, they fit the budget too.
