I have 2- 80T CGAM's the only solve I've found for the temp sensors are always buy extra.. LOL Actually haven't found a cure except replacing them sadly.. Great job keep on keeping on Bro...

Yessir, Thanks D H! I have been buying an extra every time one fails as well. the new sensors are supposed to be better quality, at least that's what they have told me 😆

Let's hope so. Haha. I know it's a great selling product.

We take care of a lot of CGAM's and half our job it feels like replacing entering and leaving sensors and suction sensors and transducers.
@EverythingHVACR
@EverythingHVACR Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you'd think they would have a sensor that would last by now. Thanks Ryan

@@EverythingHVACR agreed. Now trane is telling me that they can no longer get the transducers anywhere in the country. Smh. We don't seem to have this issue with most carrier and York. Although they have their own problems for sure.

We have also had problems with bad sensors in Trane and Carriers down here in south for some reason having to change out seems like once a year or so, also have talked with tech Surport and no good answer for the reason the sensors are reading high temp or reading in the negative temp seems to be a wide range of temp readings

I'm in the same general area and it's not just us I have found these sensors are just not reliable. Thanks Doug!

Correct neilvester 😆 just wish a sensor would last more than a year, Thanks!

Can you see any path for moisture into the sensor/plug? I'd be inclined to pump the plug and socket with dielectric grease, make sure it's not getting in there. Any other joints between the sensor wiring, the actual sensor, and the plug could be suspect. Got a hot air gun? Run it over the old one and see if you get steam coming out after you heat any part in particular. My guess would be down at the sensor itself as nothing else would get cold to wick moisture in. Pump some dielectric grease in behind the sensor once you've stuffed it in the suction pipe, in essence trying to seal the sensor from ambient air and keep moisture out.

Sensor itself has a fitting that seals pretty well, but I have considered dielectric grease for the plug. I have been mounting to prevent the possibility of moisture. These sensors are a known issue as I have heard from many others with the same problems. Thanks for the advice Thermoelectric7!

@@EverythingHVACR I thought about dielectric grease also but I have seen that destroy connections on the plastic fittings also its not conductive so I opted out but if you try and it works please let us know. Thank you

Trane sensors are junky....especially so on those CGAM. I know that chiller better than any other I've worked on. They are notorious for having that issue.The connections get moisture, so foes the temp sensor well. I've also had to replace leaking microchannel condenser coil with the subcooler circuit and a leaking receiver that i had to re-pipe due to the new one being 30% larger.

Yeah sensors are crap, Thanks Jason!

I have acgam 40t that keeps locking out on "water flow lost" I have changed out flow switch once. Also had to rewire pump to be comtrolled by the chiller. Still happens
@EverythingHVACR
@EverythingHVACR Жыл бұрын
You said flow switch, I think these use the same type sensor as suction temp to verify water flow. So I would call it a sensor. Not a basic paddle type flow switch. You could have an actual issue with flow with pump or heat exchanger, is water treated, are there any strainers on the water? Is the pump drawing good current, low current would indicate less work therefore less water movement. Pressure differential on pump and amp draw should tell you a lot.

With newer technology coming out , it can only go down hill from here. Watch Bon Mj channel. He is a guru and it's always a fking sensor where you have to dig deep into the system to get at.

I have seen some old Yorks, the wires are not protected at the sensor and they corrode and cause problems but still when in good condition more reliable than these Trane sensors

@@EverythingHVACR every York chiller i have (All with in 3 years of service) are leak refrigerant and have those micro channel coils, that are not your friend, 2 compressors already replaced on one chiller, the other 2 have had condenser fan motors replaced, the fan drives are placed up by the condenser coil so you have to cover them when hosing the coils out, Bad exv, bad flow switch, on one, replaced 3 bad compressor contractors on two chillers, yep they are 300.000 dollar throw aways
