Loving the content you guys keep putting out and the setup of the video’s. No one else does reviews like this as far as I have seen with music analysis and cinematography. CGS is by far the most advanced suppressor company there is. Makes companies like surefire look like a joke. If they didn’t have a great mounting system they would have been out of business 10+ years ago. CGS on the other hand has the most forward thinking and innovative designs. It’s really amazing when you see cutaways of their suppressor design and baffle technology. I’d love to get a Helios DT, QD and Hyperion K.

Surefire and companies like them mainly have durability as their selling point. Their cans are not as quiet for sure but they can stand the abuse of tens of thousands of rounds, full auto, you name it. I have a kac cqb can and it’s not crazy quiet either, but I bought it for a duty rifle because the mounting system is awesome and it’s build like a brick shithouse

Does the Hyperion REALLY have much less FRP on subsonic 300 Blackout bolt guns ? All the others I have tried recently have really loud FRP. How does the FRP compare to the Thunder Chicken ? (Specific to 300 Blackout subsonic). Gun is Q Mini-Fix.

In the case of handgun silencers, use a layer of teflon tape on the barrel threads and keep checking tightness every mag.

What do you think about the Hyperion vs the 338 Hekate with an adapter for 5/8-24 for a 6mm or 6.5mm caliber bolt gun? Would the extra size/weight of the Hekate be worth it or is the Hyperion quiet enough? I only ask because there are a number of people who use the TBAC 338 Ultra on small 6mm Dasher / Creedmoor for PRS guns just because it's quieter than the Ultra 9 (which Pew Science says is not as quiet as the Hyperion).

Currently no such adapter exists so it kind of not worth discussing. Unless you just got a thread adapter for your rifle, but that can cause stacking. I bet it would work good, but I’ve never done it.

Well please check out our silencer school series and the episode on rifle mounting systems. The Hyperion is somewhat unique in that it’s mainly direct thread, but CGS does make a QD mount for the Hyperion. However that is the only one that it will Work with. Thanks for watching!

How well does the suppressor stay on the rifle with direct threads? Did the suppressor ever get loose during your testing?

It doesn't come loose, it has to do with contact surface area and torque. Wrench flats are provided for a reason. Silencers coming loose is something that comes mostly from people not buying silencers with wrench flats and not tightening the silencer down even by hand. Also people not utilizing the wrench flats on the silencer when provided, people thinking rifle silencers act like handgun silencers as far as unthreading potential, people using barrels with minimal shouldering surface area, and people that don't use silencers with the SIG 25 deg taper while hand tightening to a compatible barrel with the corresponding interface.

@@czoice The CGS Helios comes with a vented end cap that allows for a flow through functionality similar to the OSS can for your more gas sensitive hosts, and you can switch to the solid end cap for when sound suppression is more desired. Pew science has an article discussing both configurations of it 👍

it would be cool to have a decibel reader and camera down range and then have the shooter in a more open area i feel the roof makes it louder and see if buddy would actually hear the shot

A dB meter would not only cost thousands and thousands of dollars but it'd also be completely useless for any and all purposes. Your sole source of silencer sound data should be PewScience.

Yes, Gen 2 is the 3D printed. Gen 1 was welded.

Hopefully you will not get this message twice I hit a wrong button and I thought I sent it to you but it’s not showing up in your comment section, I really appreciate listening to your videos you are very organized and you know your stuff, a while back you put a video out on what you called the quietest silencer up-to-date anywhere, was it the CGS Hyperion silencers?, I think you were shooting the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 338 Lappua, could you please let me know if that was the silencer, hopefully I can get a chance to talk to you personally on the phone, I was a police officer in Montgomery Alabama from 1982 to 85, I’ve been kind of tied up for the last two years having eight surgeries I am in the hospital currently again getting ready to to be transferred to another hospital possibly today on Monday to go have another major surgery, thank you Eric Smith

CGS has a little flash deflector built into the can you lessen it as much as possible. Although full titanium cans will spark up a bit. Thanks for watching!

Flash is separate from titanium white sparking, and titanium white sparking is not controllable with a flash hider. As Alabama Arsenal said, each stock front cap has a micro flash hider built in and additional front caps will be made available in the future which will increase flash hiding capability when needed. The fullsize Hyperion doesn't need it though. The CGS rifle silencers silencers are all internally coated with hexagonal boron nitride, otherwise known as S Line, which is applied using dynamic compound deposition. This internal coating limits/eliminates titanium white sparking, the degree of which depends on the cartridge and barrel length being used. You can see some night/dusk shooting with a Hyperion on a 6.5 Creedmoor and 5.56 AR15 on a Hyperion video from a KZfaq page called "TheBulletPoints". It's also worth noting that what you see in some videos for sparking may be confused by viewers as flash, or it may seem on video that there's more sparking than there is in real life in person due to camera settings and focusing.

Their cans are coated with a special coating. Not sure what it is. But it reduces the sparking, keeping flash to a minimum as well too

This is cool. Crazy quiet. Its hard to tell from video audio. What I have heard concerning 3D printed suppressors is the very high price tag. Just remember whatever the can costs add, sales tax, photos, print cards done from your local police station, the NFA transfer fee unless you buy it in a store that has what you want in stock. Now to finish up the extra costs add $200 Kings fee too that as well. Its possible to have $500 extra added on a $2k 3D printed suppressor that you had transferred to your preferred FFL. SO, at the end of the day you could have $2,500 in a 3D printed can. This is pocket change for many people. I'll stick with my end of the day $1200 Silencerco Hybrid 46 multi-cal can and call it a day. Yes there are over $1K in qd mounts, piston kits, front covers ect. Please don't remind me.

I won't ask which is quieter, but can you compare the subjective experience of shooting through the Hyperion vs Nomad L or LT? Do they sound similar? You seem to be the only guy who's shot both...

Its very close, but I would say that the Hyperion is quieter. Also it may be my imagination, but I think the LT is quieter than the L Nomads. From the cans I've shot the Nomad L is the quietest silencer, next to the hyperion. Thanks for watching!

It is possible they may. Similar to what they did with the Helios QD model. Helios was originally a Direct Thread model, and they released the QD model later. With that said, the Hyperion keeps weight to a minimum and does a damn good job at what it does.

Get a Helios QD if you want that feature. Soon it will be available in titanium in third quarter.
