adaptogens are amazing. they saved me over the past few years. I try to tell people how effective they are but people usually want an instant fix and dont want to stick to something over a long haul and give the remedy a chance. ashwagandha and rhodiola have helped me deal with some heavy stress and im very thankful for them.

Morning Violet, Kaylee. Mug up at the Honeystead. 26 F and dark a 5:37am here in central New Hampshire. Thanks for the info. Here in New Hampshire Chaga grows on Birches, White and Yellow birch. I found about 90% on yellow birch, Betula alleghaniensis. Harvest in winter when leaves have dropped. Try to harvest only the external parts and not the base that is in the tree wood. The chaga will continue to grow. I find a sharp pruning saw works well, although many chaga 'noses' grow at heights and a wack with a stick can bring them down. I brew my chaga on a cool corner of the woodstove so it can simmer and steep for hours. Make sure to check the water level with long brew times. My favorite is Chaga with maple syrup, but lately I have been adding honey and Turkey tails for a bit of a savory flavor. About chickens, I have been thinking about Manuka's. I have mink, weasels, fishers and bears here, all notorious for getting into chickens. Thanks for the farm tour, I always love to see your animals. Take care, peace, Brice

I'll have to check Hob's book, but I think I read that the immuno properties are available in the water soluble way and the cancer/tumor fighting properties are in the alcohol extraction. All winter I keep a pot of chaga going on the wood stove (switching out chunks as it gets too light) and use that 'tea' as part of the water when I make a pot of coffee so it's in there every day! :)

@The Honeystead my favorite memory from our visits to your farm was during the beekeeping class when Violet came over to me and put her paw in my hand. She sat there for what felt like 5-10 mins just holding my hand. My heart melted. You and Brigitte are great, but Violet.... she's the best.

I just made a chaga tincture in vodka and also I found an abundance of turkey tail on my walks. I made a tincture out of that. I'm going to do a double extraction. It's amazing the abundance around us. Now I see healing plants and fungus everywhere. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 thanks for sharing.

Chaga is found on birch trees. I am fortunate to live in Northern Michigan, and have been quite successful at finding it here. I enjoy the tea, but chaga is high in oxalates, and can complicate my existing kidney issues.

I've foraged for and used chaga and reishi for years. I know I'm preaching to the choir but there is healing in the forest. I'm enjoying a chaga , reishi , cranberry drink as I write this. I just started using reishi recently , in tinture form because of what I've heard about it's sleep enhancing properties. I sleep ok , but after reishi I sleep great and usually have very vivid dreams. Also getting up to speed on turkeytail , lionsmane , and several other medicinal/choice edibles to add to my tincture products. I don't sell publically and probably never will. Every year I get a few new "regulars" and that keeps me busy enough. Oh and chaga cranjuice is my energy drink when I'm out foraging. I'm no spring chicken either and regularly haul out 50 lb packs.

Hello Ladies. I love your channel. I have a question if you don't mind. My local store is selling hives and bees and kits for raising them. What do you recommend by way of a newbie getting started. I have absolutely no clue how to raise bees but would love to learn and to get started as soon as I can afford to. Hence my issue. I am starting a homestead and of course that and my family come first, but goodness I would love some truly fresh, raw honey to go into my cabinet. Again, Love your channel. I am into herbs pretty heavy too, especially medicinals. I am learning all I can. Be safe and Love well. Kelly

I had to have a 60ft. white pine cut down because it was hollow w/ants and going to drop anyway. I really don't want the medicine to go to waste! ThanQ so much!
