Welcome to a new video "Chair Workout | 20 Minute Strength Training for Seniors, Beginners!"
In this 20 minute video, we will build muscle to combat the loss of muscle and bone density that occurs as we age. Regardless of your age, building strength through exercise is essential for maintaining mobility and reducing the risk of falls or other injuries.
Exercise at home in a chair or standing and increase strength with dumbbells, water bottles, cans or the weight of your choice. Mom shows how it's done in a chair! Need help finding the right weight? Check out our video:

I just completed this exercise after a short (10 minute) Pilates set. (My core is still strong, miraculously!) I am following this with a brisk walk for a mile or so. As Red Pollard, the jockey, says in "Seabiscuit" while addressing the horse, "I know. I know. l'm in a hurry too, Pops. But you know what Hadrian said about Rome: 'Brick by brick, my citizens. Brick by brick" ♥

Love this ... I have been working out with these two lovely ladies for close to 2 years. I've kept off 70 pounds, no longer pre-diabetic and my cholesterol is under 100, I feel fantastic and look forwrad to each of these workouts. I will conquer the 60 minute walk !! My 81 year old mom and I (55) are enjoying doing this workout twice a week. We have recommended your videos to her geriatrician and she (the geriatrician) is telling other mother and daughter teams about you two. Thank you both for all your hard work. We are so blessed! We both are getting stronger. :) We are also doing other workouts of yours on the other days of the week.

Ladies, I just want to thank you for a wonderful work out. My foot is in a boot for the next 2 to 3 weeks so I was able to do about 90% of this video and I really appreciate you doing some seated workouts. Keep up the good work and God bless.

Another nice one from my 2 favorite exercise people! For those seniors who don't have the finger strength to lift dumbbells, could you do a strength workout using only wrist weights please? Amazon sells an assortment of different wrist weights starting at 1/2 pound. Thanks & have a Sunny Week -

Love, love, love these videos and the two of you! Thank you. I really wish I would have found you a few years ago when my Mom was still with us. I am 58 and the last few years have been very challenging. Unfortunately in the midst of a great deal of stress I did not prioritize my own well-being and my strength is significantly impacted. I found you by searching for a "senior" workout because so many videos push too hard too soon for me. These gentle, guided sessions are providing encouragement I need to get started, challenging my current comfort zone along with your reminders to tailor the workout to my own abilities. I have really enjoyed the interaction between mother and daughter and your sense of humor! More please! Thank you so much for this resource! 💓

Thank you ladies, I appreciate how your mother is included in the workouts. During the hammer curls I was wondering why the daughter didn't have her elbows tucked to the side. I'm glad your mother mentioned it to you!! I'm a senior, but, not a beginner and I was curious of the rest periods with only a 20 min. workout. I decided not to put my weights down during the workout. I did complete the workout begrudgingly.

Thank you beautiful ladies. I am so grateful I stumbled across your videos. I saw this last night and was really looking forward to doing it this morning. I am very sick at the moment from recurrent UTIs; currently on 6th this year (related to RA). I have let exercise go, but have now decided I have to get back to it, no matter how sick I feel. This exercise is just right for me, and even though I feel nauseous and have stomach pain, I nevertheless feel that my pores are open and my cells are alive with energy. My whole body is breathing. I will be joining in with you every day, I expect, and am now about to explore your other videos having also completed the cooldown. FYI I am 76 and live in Australia.

I was thinking during the rowing exercises that those of us who live in cold, snowy climates could use some exercises to prepare us for walking on ice and also walking with snowshoes. Using snowshoes takes a lot of energy and also uses different muscles. Thank you for all the varied videos.

I just did this one and it is great! Back home from our trip to Manitoba Canada. I did well with getting my steps goal in while away and now it is good to do some strength training again. Thanks so much for this awesome video.

I was pleased to be able to do this one standing up and with 5-pound dumbbells this morning. I don't think the 5-lb. weights will ever be "easy peasy" for me, but I have been able to use them in more and more exercises lately, so I know I'm getting stronger.💪 I needed to put the weights down for the toes up/heels up move because it was hard to transition between those two positions without putting one hand on a table for support, but I amazed myself by being able to do the kicks while holding the weights on my thighs and without holding on! I almost lost my balance once or twice the second time around with the kicks, but I managed to stay standing and complete the movements. I hope to get better at keeping my balance for both those moves if I keep practicing. This was my second of 3 "new to me" routines that I did this morning. The first was your morning stretch in bed, and the third was your brand new 10-minute HIIT workout. (March 15, 2024)

April, did you notice the background music sounds just like a phrase from "I Want To Be With You Everywhere" one of the great hits of the '80s! By Christine McVie & Fleetwood Mac. It matches the part of the lyrics that's "You know that I'm falling and I don't know what to say ... " If you haven't heard it in a while, check it out, it's even better than I remembered from back then. Anyway, great workout! A really good strength session in a compact time. The leg-lift-kick-out was especially challenging, and the toe-raises-heel-raises were a good balance move too ... try not to tip backwards! Great pace and mix of upper, lower & core.

Since this is a strength workout, there are less steps (under 500) than a walking or cardio workout. But the benefit of doing this workout is that you will build muscle which will make you stronger on your walks. Thank you so much for spending time with us and keep building muscle! 💪❤️

I did this Strength workout the first time this morning. Thanks. I noticed that the clock wasn't along with your words or actions. I have a question: Do you have a video that shows how to correctly do a few other movements: picking up something from the floor from a seated position in all directions or from standing and other ways that body is working in the house or garden. I can't think of any more examples at the moment.

Hello, I love your exercises. I do them every day at least once. I don't find them hard to do. Since i started doing these exercises my balance improved a lot. Thanks a lot. From time ti time i do some other exercises but I dont want to overdo as im 75 yrs old and had a heart failure 4 yrs ago 🎉😊
