Eagles got a steal but as far as biggest impact in year one I believe it's the Bears getting Caleb Williams. Easy to say but pairing him with Allen, Moore, and now Odunze is going to be fun to watch and will help him have easy targets starting out as a rookie. Chris Long played mostly with the Rams, but he's an Eagle for life and he knows it. We don't win the SB without him, and I'm glad he's an Eagles guy.

An underrated part of this pick is that, with Cousins, the Falcons don't project to have a high draft pick for as long as he starts. So why not take the QB now? They've taken three elite skill position players the last three drafts, and now have the QB to match the timelines of Pitts, London, Bijan. The criticism about the Cousins contract, I get it-but it's just money. Are we grading teams for how efficient they are with their cap spending? Or are we grading teams for trying to win? Was a pass rusher really going to get ATL over the hump? No, but a future franchise QB might.

exactly! The highest the Minnesota Vikings picked in the Kirk Cousins era was 18th. The other five years, 23rd twice, 30th, 31st and 32nd... who would we get in those spots!?

so why pay cousins 100 Mil for 2 years, they could have draft a QB anyway and spend the 100 mil for other positions

As a Bears fan, I can't believe how much talent we have on offense for once! Not since Alshon and Brandon Marshall did we have this type of firepower and even then, we onyl really had a duo there and now we have THREE legitimate dawgs at receiver. BEAR DOWN!

I don’t hate the Penix pick as much as some people. They need a good backup the next 2 seasons with Kirk’s age… they also have an easy out after 2 year of his contract. Ideally, you’d wait one more year to draft his replacement, but they’re going to be too good next year to have a high pick and would likely need to trade up 10+ picks to get a top QB. I had Penix as my #2 qb behind Caleb, so the value is great to me.

It was dumb. U don't draft a 24 year old qb to sit 2 or 3 years. If they wanted to get a future qb, they should've traded the 8 pick for future assets. U don't draft a qb at 8 to be a backup. Either get a qb like Flacco or Brissett, and draft ur qb to sit for a year. Or u go all in with the qb u just paid.

@kellmerWF52 if we don't sign Cousins, everybody knows we're drafting a Qb and then teams start to trade up. If we don't sign KC it's not guarantee we get a QB we want with trading up

@@jonathanbillingslea1262 IT wasn't dum, you have your next franchise QB while the fans, criticizing it, of teams without a QB are going to be sitting there looking stupid 2 years from now. Why would ATL trade AWAY from 8 and RISK losing out on pennix? Broncos, Raiders, Saints, etc were trying to jump inside the team to pick him. "Either get a qb like Flacco or Brissett, and draft ur qb to sit for a year. Or u go all in with the qb u just paid." You aren't going to have the same high chance of winning with Flacco or Brissett that you're gong to have with Cousins based on him coming off a MVP-ESQUE season before he got hurt. Take the top 10ish QB, let the NFL now respect you, and secure your FUTURE with the 8th pick and sit him as FAvre, Brady, CArson Palmer, MAhomes, Rodgers, Love, etc have sat to develop.

Pocket QBs in todays NFL play into their late 30s. If Penix starts at 26-27 the Falcons still get a solid decade out of him. Age doesn't matter at QB like other positions.

I'm an Arizona native, but I do not like the Cardinals. I am a Colts and Eagles fan. While im super happy for Marvin Jr., not super thrilled i gotta pay attention to the cards this season.

I think Falcons took Penix to have draft capital in case they get hit for tampering

Wym for draft capital?? They used that capital picking Penix. Once you make a pick you effectively trade the draft capital for the player. Capital is kinda like assets. They have more QB capital now tho but not first round capital because they spent it.

@@diggledwarf More like trade capital is what I meant. I feel like they got him just for that tbh. I mean why else would they get him??? They gave Kirk a bag for four years. Penix will be 28 when he's able to be a starter barring a Kirk injury.

@@metalgearfan9802 No way, he's a Falcon .They got him to secure their future same way Packers did. ANd no, they don't have Cousins for 4 years, they can get out of the deal in 2 years. Pennix will start during the 26' season and will be 26, QBs are playing in their late 30s now. ITs a win for ATL

If Penix turns out to be good, next year he will be traded to quarterback needy team . So a bad team . A bad team with a high pick . Is this what their thinking? Otherwise it makes no sense.
