There are a lot of new and unique challenges when first starting out your residency as an intern (first-year resident). I definitely faced a lot of new challenges that forced me to adapt as a brand new doctor. In this video, I discuss the most impactful challenges that I faced as an intern, and different things that I did to combat these new and unique challenges.

I highly recommend reading The House of God by Samuel Shem (as I referenced in my video). It is a comedic story of one guy's intern year at a hospital he calls 'The House of God.' It is loosely based on the author's experience as an intern in Internal Medicine back in the 1970s. It is profane at times, but very funny. It is definitely an exaggeration and medical training has changed a lot since that time. You can find it here on amazon: amzn.to/3zdXjTx.
