Any experience with this new model when using pusher springs? I have them on another door to avoid cable slack and tripping the cable monitor switch on the older model chamberlain. Wasn’t sure if the new software would throw an error because of those pushers when the door 1st starts to close.

Great video! I install a lot of doors and motors for large local lumber yard. They called me to tell me today that they ordered a skid of these chamberlain side mounts instead of the 98022 side mounts that they usually push. They wanna try them because they are more cost efficient for the customer. I’m looking forward to trying these out since the 98022 has its issues. If anyone has any issues or tips for these things please let me know!

I ended up throwing my 98022 in the trash and reinstalling my center mount hanging opener. I am going to watch your channel to see if any issues develop in the coming months. If it seems to hold up with no issues, I will go ahead and buy this one.

Hello! Great question! From the wall to the horizontal tracks I usually prefer 10 inches. You might be able to squeeze it into an 8.5" space.

I have an older 16x8 solid wood panels garage door. Pretty heavy overall. Do you recommend using this wall mount or any wall mount for the wieght of my door? Or use the conventional overhead type garage door opener?

That's a great question! My belief is a custom wood door like the size you have is better suited for an overhead garage door opener. Especially if you have a very thick wood door with an overlay. Now, that's my professional opinion. That being said there are a number of wood garage doors that are operated with a wall mount garage door opener. If you do choose to go that route I highly recommend going with a ProLine opener as opposed to one of the retail openers.

Hello, I have 2 - 10'x10' steel roll up "Heavy" doors. I tried to install a conventional garage door opener, a 1/2 hp chain drive, then a 2 hp screw drive and only the 2 hp screw drive lifted it 6'. I was thinking of trying a side mount, but my shafts only protrude 3/8" from the cotter pin. Any solutions? Thank you! Subbed.

I recently purchased a chamberlain RJO101. Problem is I have a WDTM system - provided by home builder. I got quotes to convert from a WDTM to a torsion system but the costs seem overpriced. Would it be possible to use an adaptor kit, similar to TorqueMaster® Adapter Kit - 41032R in order to install the wall mount chamberlain to my WDTM?

That is a fantastic question. Unfortunately I have yet to try it for my customers. The majority of them are not crazy about a secondary adapter that has its own moving parts that could fail completely outside of the garage door opener. I'm intrigued to find out how much they're charging you for a torsion conversion from a torque Master spring system.

Just installed one Saturday on a 10x8 door and regardless of how i adjusted the torsion spring, it refuses to go down during the force learning step. I have 4” cable drums so I used profile 1. After spending hours trying more spring tension and less spring tension and adjusting tracks, I tried profile 3 for 6” drums and it worked perfectly. No clue what it thought the issue was. Hopefully it doesn’t really matter.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Yes it seems that utilizing a door profile that is higher than the first two will allow the operator to work normally. Nevertheless I am concerned that this method has to be used in order to trick the operator to think that it's working a high lift door. More importantly if this opener is set to that profile then how will the detect cable Slack in the event that the cables do loosen? I'm just not sure how that process works when we're technically tricking the system to think that it's operating a high lift door. But I do hope that your new investment does not give you any troubles.

@@sosgds I chatted with support and didn’t get much help. I plan to call them and see what else they suggest or if they indicate it is an issue. Thanks for the videos. Very helpful in deciding to get RJO101. Went with chamberlain because other openers in our attached garage are on MyQ. It was easy to add the 3rd one in my shop to the app. It is extremely quiet and smooth.

One caveat that is not talked about enough for DIY wall-mount installs is getting the door weight and tracks properly set so that the door does not lag (creating cable slack) on the way down.

That is a great point! Thank you for sharing it. I just did a job this week where cables had slack on a CHI door with an 8500W. I had to lower the left tracks in order to get the cables to not slack.

@@johnnywalker5635 it’s an issue when converting from a conventional track-style opener that pushes/pulls on the door vs a wall-mount that just operates the torsion bar and relies on gravity to close the door. Most installs call for level tracks and balancing the door against the springs as neutral as possible. That’s not ideal for a wall-mount. If the door doesn’t keep weight on the cables at any point in the travel, there’s a good chance the cables will unwind rapidly from the drums and create a real problem. Plus, an overhead door with no cable tension is a major safety hazard if it’s not connected to an opener.

Yes that is a great perk and the LCD is very bright. Yet with the motion sensors the LED light fixture is very responsive. It can turn on with the slightest movement in the garage. Thanks for your comment!

The display on my 8500W times out and goes blank and the motion sensor doesn't have much range, so you have to be within 5-10 feet of it before it picks you up and turns the display back on along with the light.

That is a great question I have yet to have a force close issue problem with the Chamberlain opener. Yet I have heard within the community some experiences where the opener will not close. What type of garage door are you installing this unit on?

Great question. My money is still on the Genie B6172. Although Genie's wall mount offering is older, it's had the time to work out the bugs. Chamberlain/LiftMaster's wall mount garage door opener is still working out the bugs.

Well worth the cost. No remotes in the car parked overnight in the driveway. So someone can break the car window and gain access inside your home if you have a door in and don’t lock the door like we do
