Chanar Malpua is a Bengali sweet dish made with Chana, a soft and crumbly form of Indian cottage cheese, the Hindi word is Chena. Malpua or Malpoa is a deep fried pancake soaked in sugar syrup! Chanar
Malpua or Malpoa is a soft melt in moth fried sweet! A good Chanar Malpua tastes soft in the centre and crispy the edges. All over India and South Asian countries, there are many variations of Malpua recipe. In India, every state has its own twist for Malpua recipe. Some recipes called for Mawa, some called for Kheer, some make the batter with Ata(whole wheat flour).
In Bengali cuisine itself, there are many various recipes for Malpua, some of them are Bhaja Malpua, Sujir Malpua, kheer Malpoa.
Here is the ingredient list for Chanar Malpua:
2 cup (300 gm) Paneer or Chana
⅓ cup (70 gm) fine Semolina
2 ½ cups(600 gm) Sugar
1 ½ cup water
1 cup milk or water
⅓ cup (50gm) Plain Flour
1 tsp (5gm) Fennel seed
15-20 (2gm) black pepper
½ tsp cardamom powder
⅛ tsp baking powder
10-12 Saffron strands
Pistachios or Mixed nuts for garnishing
