Thanks for putting the video up! I dont have the exact same peugeot as yours but they essentially all look the same under the hood. I was able to change the coolant in my car on my own thanks to the easy to follow instructions.

Well the right way to this is to bleed the cooling system while car is cold from the 2 bleeding points...the first one is on the hoses going to heater core..and the second one is the bleeding screw in the thermostat housing...While keeping the expansion tank always full during this process.
@MotorScotti

Taymour Nasereddin True, that's what I read in the repair manual, too. I found it to be too much hassle though and my simpler version turned out to be working fine.

Taymour Nasereddin Hi, My 1.6 THP has the temperature sensor instead of a bleed screw on the thermostat. It has an electrical cable coming out of it. Should I unscrew it anyway? I'm afraid of tearing the cable... I also know that when you install the sensor for the first time you should aplly some type of sealant on it - Should I reapply it? If so what is this sealant (couldn't find it online).. I was hoping the see what Scotty is going to do... :) Thank you in advance!

Hi thanks for your videos they help a lot. I recently got an RCZ and I wondered if the engine Fan stays on for a while after I stop, is this common for this car? Or do you think it’s a fault? Thanks

Tnx, im just wondering as a 208 owner... doos your RCZ also have a VTI engine? From what i heard the RCZ is basicly a 308 engine 1600 cc, and with my 208 its a 1200 VTI... the question here is: can i use the same coolant as youre using?

@condor5635
@condor5635 4 жыл бұрын
Nicework. You just have to make sure your percentages are correct because when you put the distilled water in initially you now have mostly distilled water in the heater core. That means you need to be adding more than 50/50 mix to get the entire system at 50/50. You need to know what the total capacity is and then you can figure it out exactly. I usually add 100% pure coolant after running distilled water three or four times through the system
@MotorScotti

Correct, that is a very good point!

Hi, is it necessary to drain eventual air bubbles? I watched that you do not drain in anyone drain valve..
@MotorScotti
@MotorScotti 2 жыл бұрын
It would be better if you wanted to bleed the system immediately. The thing is, over time, when your driving, the system will work out all the air bubbles anyway. I simply drive the car warm, let it cool down and top up the coolant. The result is the same.

Very good question! I'm sorry I don't remember, should have added that back than. You should be fine with 5l, but it depends whether the system is fully empty or not.

Hi from Malaysia. Is it necessary to use garden hose and flush/bleed the whole system to ensure all the contaminants are cleared?
@MotorScotti
@MotorScotti 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the garden hose won't flush the whole system anyway. If you want to bleed it completely and by the book, you have to open all of the bleeding valves, but I didn't do that, which is why it took a good test drive for the system to work out all of the air bubbles.

I put in little bit windscreen washer in the coolant by mistake, coolant was 85% from max and i filled rest 15% with windscreen washer. Basically i was suppose to put it in its right place but made a mistake. You think I can drive my car with little bit of windscreen washer in my coolant? Thanks
@MotorScotti

I'm not an expert, don't think it should make that much of an impact. But for peace of mind I'd change it. As you saw in the video it's pretty easy and cheap to do.

Hope you could help me

It's the same procedure on every car, some need a bit longer to work out the air bubbles. Just drive it a bit longer, it needs to properly warm up. The heater needs to be on, too, of course. Top off the coolant when it's cold again. You might have to repeat the process several times as long as there is still air in the system.

Hi, peugeot 3008 year of 2018 model. Possible to show how to change the coolant? Thank you...
@MotorScotti
@MotorScotti 2 жыл бұрын
I don't have a 3008, even sold the RCZ years ago. It's always the same procedure on every car:. Drain the coolant, fill the radiator, warm up the engine with the cabin heater on, let the air work its way up and top up the coolant when it's cold again.

Check for leaks, it's very likely that it's leaking through the water pump seal. You can see it if you look under the car.

Coolant colors do not matter anymore since many years. Colors no longer correspond to the chemical composition and there is no consistent standard followed by all manufacturers.
@MotorScotti
@MotorScotti 6 жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is that it doesn't matter what coolant type goes into what engine?
@irvvine
@irvvine 6 жыл бұрын
MotorScotti No, I'm saying that coolant type is not related in any way to its color. Coolant type is exactly what you want to check before pouring it into your car's cooling system, but never trust the color!

True, the best way is still to check the description to make sure it actually fits your type of engine. Anyway thanks for your feedback I wasn't aware that the coolant color didn't match up with the chemical type anymore. As far as I've checked, I still put the right coolant into my cars. :)
