BEST roadtrip to Britain's GREATEST mountain (and beach)

If you want to make god laugh tell him your plans. And my plans for this road trip were simple: climb 3 mountains in 3 Scottish regions, with the last one being arguably the greatest mountain in Britain.
Well, things didn't go to plan at all. Not even slightly! But that aside, this has to be one of the best, most relaxing and most memorable trip I've ever been on.
The route took me over Rannoch Moor, through Glencoe and then up past Fort William heading in the direction of the Isle of Skye. I briefly visit Eilean Donan Castle before breaking away from the main road and tackling the famous Applecross pass. A night in Torridon was followed by visits to two beautiful beaches at Redpoint and Gairloch before reaching Ullapool. I was now closer to Assynt and spent the night at the foot of Stac Polaidh before heading over to Lochinver where I'd get a glimpse of the best mountain of them all: Suilven. Pies were eaten to set me up for my final beach visit at Achmelvich - what a place!
As always, thank you so much for watching; I appreciate all the support you have shown me over the years!

I thought that mountain and little house at 4:30 looked familiar! That's pretty much the exact spot where the video for Nick Heyward's 'Whistle Down The Wind' was shot! You'll see exactly what I mean if you have a quick watch of it. I bet it'll remind you how good a song it is too! Awesome video, btw! 👍

I'm currently laid up in hospital after spinal surgery and watching your trip took me out of the ward for a while, thank you. Liathach(next to Beinn Eighe) and Beinn Alligin are fantastic peaks in Torridon, well worth the hike especially Liathach's ridge and its pinnacles.

Isn't it strange how scuppered plans can yield such wonderful results.... This is my favourite thing you've done. I was with you, enjoying every moment. It doesn't matter that you didn't get to climb; the pleasure of your company on the journey is what makes your work so enjoyable. Your love for the landscape shines through, along with your enthusiasm, your evident friendliness, the self-deprecating humour, and the complete absence of phoniness. (Is that the word???) I hope your Achilles recovers. But if it doesn't, there are many of us who would happily ride in the van, enjoying the sites you show us, sharing vicariously the brews, the Mars bars, the pies, the movies you fall asleep to, and life on the road. Your hiking and climbing videos are brilliant, but your company on simple walks and roadtrips is just as engaging. Thank you so much.

That cloud breaking timelapse on Suilven caused me flutters in places I thought were dead..... what I appreciated most is that you didn't feel the need to give any sort of rousing intro commentary, you just let the event speak for itself, which made it 100 times more satisfying and unexpected.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't inderstand the concept of passing places, not just for oncoming traffic but also for letting vehicles pass you.

Passing places? Highland duel carriageways, had a visitor with me once on the way down to Torridon, he thought I was playing chicken when I accelerated towards the passing place towards an oncoming vehicle, locals hit the beginning of the passing place at the same time, to pass at a decent pace.

Thanks Glenn. My late granddad introduced me to Suilven. He was a geologist and a teacher and did his Masters on the ancient rocks up there. It's the only mountain my wife has ever climbed as she is definitely not an enthusiast! I dragged her up there many years ago and she enjoyed it. The payback was a wonderful stay at the Ballachulish Hotel on the way back. I have climbed it many times and still go to Sutherland on occasions when I get back from military deployments. It's a beautiful and serene place which is my favourite destination in the world. Thanks for showing it and Glen Coe too. Absolutely superb video

At 35.36 the very last house you can see on the left was my schools (Rutherglen Academy) adventure centre in the 60s and 70s. The former schoolhouse and classroom at InverAlligin was converted by the pupils and staff to accomodate up to 30. We walked those hills everyday... Fond memories from my youth. I even remember electricity being installed in 1971. A very respectable 8 hour drive from Glasgow over single track roads from the A82. It gave the love of Torridon, the hills and the beauty of Scotland to a 15 year old from an urban environment that has stayed with me ever since. Thank you. Tapadh Leibh!

Been said elsewhere I guess, but what a nice guy, you intuitively sense it's not an act. The drone footage and especially the timelapse on Suilven actually made me emotional, similar to listening to a poignant piece of music. So much in the world is ugly, bland and conformist, a beige dystopia of coercive oppression, that this small moment of beauty and excellence provided a welcome temporary release........

Amazing video. I am Suffolk born, with a Glaswegian Mum and a Yank Dad living in Oklahoma now and I remember some of Scotland from my youth living in the UK but nothing like you show. I had Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis over the summer. I did a few things to heal it and one is very controversial. I got a tiny foot sleeve that I wore at night, I would lightly massage to each side and just above the A tendon to break up any scar tissue and to warm it up. And here is the one that nobody wants to hear, I only wore crocs for 3 months (actually the fake crocs from Amazon with the colored inserts for extra cushioning). The crocs made a soft base and no strain on the tendons while walking. Shoes are best with zero incline and a wide toe base like Altra Hiking shoes. It is actually shoes that cause foot issues. I love that you show us your return to the van and then a nice brekkie somewhere but dang! Not opening until 9 am for breakfast is crazy! Don’t stop your talking, let people who don’t like it put you on mute. I am learning a lot.

What a beautiful corner of the world - those beaches are incredible. Whoever lives in that white house up in the hills is very lucky having that on their doorstep.

Enjoyed that immensely. It brought back fond memories of summer holidays spent in Scotland as a kid. My friends would laugh because my family weren't jetting off to Spain or somewhere hot and sunny. Little did they know what an amazingly beautiful place, the west coast up there is. I'll take 2 weeks up there than anywhere in Europe I think. Oh, and pies..............the saddest moment of my life was when I realized, Canadians don't do meat pies.

I really enjoyed this, the cinematography and narration was excellent and i enjoyed seeing Scotland. Personally it was really nice to see some of the shorter and smaller walks and beaches you explored; I would like to do a couple of them if I went to Scotland as most of the large mountains look quite intimidating!

I’m Scottish but went abroad over 30 years ago. Used to know this journey very well when I was younger. Still take my kids over that area in the infrequent times I’m back.

@1:17:01 this HAS to be one of THE BEST things I have seen here on YT... the mood, the music. Unreal. Speachless. Great trip. Makes me wonder how feels like to stand on a coastline in Scotland compared to Mediterranean Sea. Glenn, I hope you get better soon.
