The Valar are left in mourning and vigil in the Ring of Doom in Valinor, after the destruction of the Trees and Fëanor's rebellion. Valinor has been darkened, and the world needs a new light source. Yavanna and Nienna once again combine their powers in wonderful display of eucatastrophe, striking a blow against Morgoth.

This series is so helpful in understanding the lore that I don't retain while reading

A few months back I figured I should read the Silmarillion before the rings of power series starts on Amazon. Through that journey I found this priceless channel. Since then I have finished the Silmarillion three or four times and on top of that I have taken a deep dive into all of the other arcs such as the last tales in the history of middle earth. Rereading the hobbit in the Lord of the rings as well as the appendixes after reading the Silmarillion has been a totally different experience. Currently I am re-reading the Silmarillion LOL while I am watching this and reading the atlas of middle earth to cross reference as a journey through the Silmarillion once again. I just want to thank you for the great work that you do and find it amusing that although I am probably going to watch the rings of power I don’t know how excited I am for it anymore because I have become so attached to the written stories and cherish how they play out in my own imagination. It will be sad to see Kia Vinson characters left out in the Amazon version and I will probably be angry if they focus too much on their own creative characters but Haleys people are making stuff. Anyways thank you so much for all you do… It is a great escape from the stresses of reality.

My favorite video series on KZfaq... Keep up the good work! I can’t wait for the parts where you’ll introduce new voice actors. I’m hyped for 2021! Edit: Your take on Evil and the Valar was mind blowing for me. It would have taken me a long time to think that the Valar simply have hard time understanding even the concept Evil.

Excellent video. Very few Tolkien channels dig or even mention the concept of Arda Marred despite this being an extremely important pillar of Tolkien's cosmogonical design. Well done!

Eagle Air Force lmao Your voice sounds like a DBZ villain e.g. Frieza when you read from villain's POV. Absolutely gobsmacked at the beauty of your series. The illustrations, music, and your voice (you pronounce like an ancient Elf). Love it. Good job 🤯🙏

I like the concept of the Sun and Moon being created from the damaged trees. They too are marred. Very interesting.

It could just be a detail, but I wonder why the perfect state of the world is called "Arda unmarred" and not something like "Arda pure". Either way, it references the evil marring by Melkor to define itself. It's almost as if they recognise good as the antithesis to evil and not so much an entity of itself. Well, I guess the term was coined in retrospect (after Morgoth's assaults) so that it underlines what potential was lost.

I wonder how Arda unmarred can be Eru's original plan - or if it was, that he really expected it to come about, since he invited Melkor to sing with everyone else, unless he couldn't see into his heart very well.

Balance is a key thing in many things and it makes sense for the concept to appear in a work that is seen partially as a creation myth/epic. The names themselves may not be important, but they are rather telling as the moon is 'wayward' in it's chase of the sun, a source of passion. If elves prefer a six day week, do men measure their weeks likewise? Else is there a contradiction in the date/turn of year? I actually love watching this after completing the story again. I never would have caught the foreshadowing if this hadn't pointed out this was where that seed started. I can't remember if it was in one of the film discussions or speculation on the amazon series, but I think it was Helen who said something about the women in this series primarily having power in their magic traits, not necessarily their physical prowess. The legend of the sun and moon as well as the Girdle are a great example of this. Gosh darn it. If those darn men would just stop being enchanted by pretty ladies and going off course.

I liked how Morgoth tried to attack the moon and failed. Does that mean Master Roshi (DBZ) is stronger than Morgoth? 😂 Anyways, another great video!

Mandos is based on me & my oldest brother manwe, intersting to see we noted when the moon & stars & the sun could be seen for the first time & the sky turned blue...& we called our world earth & followed the metric dollar system instead of imperial pound..

I specifically had issue trying to understand Ulmo pulling the sun under the earth? and then the moon following? that whole passage didn't make sense to me if someone can explain
