Vitality band is good against more decks in the meta imo. Like Tina, lugia, arceus, chien pao etc.

Vitality band is the better option over choice belt. Just look at the scenarios. With no prizes taken by the opp choice belt doesn’t even get you to that 220 mark, which is where you wanna be to KO the most popular and played Vs like Tina, Lugia, and Arceus V. After the opp has taken one prize you can now KO those 220 HP Vs by doing 240 with choice belt. BUT vitality band gets you to 220 and not only are you KOing those Vs I mentioned but you’re also able to KO a plethora of popular 220 hp EXs like chien pao, miridon, iron valiant, iron thorns, iron crown etc. which you wouldn’t have been able to do with choice belt. Now in scenarios where the opp has taken 3 prizes, choice belt will get you to 300 allowing you to KO Vstars. BUT vitality band gets you to 280 allowing you to KO those Vstars too while also being able to KO pidgeot ex. Really the only time that choice belt is optimal in the meta is against Raikou and Raichu Vs in the early game when facing a miridon deck. Edit: I just realized iron crown is weak to dark so disregard him in my analysis

@@austinbelitz3808 I still disagree, 10 extra damage is not worth it. With choice and maximum in your deck you are doing 30-50 extra damage to both EX and V cards, plus Charizard's extra 30 per prize card taken. Charizard can one shot most one prize cards without a prize taken or a tool added

Choice belt plays differently in every deck as the math is obviously different but we are talking about specifically in zard. So with that said, in the current meta game what V is Zard KOing with choice belt at no prizes taken (210 dmg)? The answer is only one, Raikou V (200HP), which will not see the same amount of play as it used to as the miridon ex deck took a big hit from rotation. Why is it only one you might ask? Because every single V that’s actually played in the meta game is 220 HP and I’ll list them all so you get the picture. Arceus V, Giratina V, Lugia V, Palkia V, and Dialga V. After one prize is taken guess what card would help you KO the Vs I just listed? VITALITY BAND (220 dmg). Choice belt can too with 240 dmg but ask yourself why do you need the extra 20 damage when there is literally no Vs that are even remotely played with 230HP and 240 doesn’t exist on a basic V. But get this, here’s the list of Pokemon in the meta game that Vitality band KOs (220 dmg) and choice belt (210 dmg to non V) can not: Chien Pao ex, Iron leaves ex, iron valiant ex, both miridon exs, and sandyshocks ex. At 2 prizes taken I’m sure you can surely guess how many Vstars in the current meta game choice belt KOs (270 dmg). If you answered absolutely none then you’re correct. So after 3 prizes are taken how many Vstars in the meta is vitality band KOing (280 dmg)? The exact same amount that choice belt can KO (300 dmg) and just like before you have an extra 20 damage that doesn’t matter because no Vstars exceeds 280HP. And like I mentioned before vitality band (280 dmg) does just a little more by being able to KO Pidgeot ex (280 hp) in the mirror match. Now when there’s 4-5 prizes taken choice belt (330 dmg/360 dmg to Vs) no longer matters because there’s no VMAXs played, but if there was one VMAX that might get played in a niche deck it would probably be regileki vmax (310 hp) . Oh wait vitality band KOs (310 dmg) it too. So choice belt is really useless at this stage while vitality band can still reach you KOs against (admittedly) niche Pokemon like Gengar ex (310 hp), meowscrada ex (310 hp), and Torterra ex (340 hp). So when it comes to the current meta game, the only thing that vitality band can’t do that choice belt can is KO Raikou V at no prizes taken. In every single other scenario vitality band does the same or better than the choice belt. So continue playing choice belt in your zard deck if you love to play cards that are strictly worse.

I was thinking about making a deck where delphox, zard, and gouging fire tag team. Delphox for early game knockouts, gouging fire to handle the bigger mons, and zard for late game cleanup but idk if it’s worth it

I feel like Entei V would be better in that role as it does something the entire game and is just tanky enough to be super annoying. But I really just love entei V

@@AT-il2ej i think that is fair for most matchups I was thinking specifically about 1 way I saw eapathra ex being played that would require 4 energy for entei to attack leading to a revenge KO next turn where as char ex would only need 2 making it a 2 turn KO

Not searchable I assume. Mist Energy is beneficial but it’s real value comes from being a free search due to pidgeot. Without pidgeot, it’s a random I searchable one that you’re unlucky to see when you actually need it.

You only go into zard. Shouldn’t be benching anything else. They can’t kill your zard. You set up 2 zards. That match is slow anyways so doesn’t matter how long it takes you to setup just gotta win game 1

I ran my zard deck with both Pidgeot and bibarel worked nice today got 2nd place but it was a last min build lol I definitely would just go for one or the other next time around

It's a matter of preference, both versions and ace specs are good! I personally prefer bibarel version with prime catcher. Pidgeot has free retreat, so prime catcher would be "just" a free boss's orders. For bibarel, it can be quite hard to retreat it if it's active, so prime catcher works as a boss's orders+switch. It has the mobility that charizard ex needs for the bibarel deck.

I wouldn't take videos or builds like this as "absolute" truths that are the only way to play the deck, of course some things like the 4 Arven or 4 Charmander, you will want to listen and keep the same, but you can do an analysis of maybe 5 or so decks on the top of the list and see what they're doing. Point being, some of these things are a matter of playstyle and preference. Give both the Pigeot and Bidoof decks a try, and see which you prefer! Learning why something is put in the deck is important as a beginner, because then you can make your own calls to potentially change things around a bit to your liking. But that takes time and experience with the game.
