Alyssa always had a gift of doing a small gesture or inflection of a line to make something hilarious without taking you out of the scene. Her comedy always felt natural and never forced to me.

Until the Phoebangs came along ! I remember lots of women were remarking more about Holly Marie Combs' hair than AM's at the time. She also had those awesome pony tail holders from a company called Hair Glove.

Initially he was supposed to have been a future incarnation of Prue! Essentially Prue's spirit was reincarnated into Chris. Of course he had a more potentially sinister motive (like killing the Valkerie in Valhalla of the Dolls) and baby Wyatt was suspicious of him for a reason, but they dropped it and made him Piper and Leo's 2nd son.

@@TCt83067695 That was indeed the writers' initial idea. It would have completely burned the bridge to prevent any Shannen Doherty appearances (should that fence had mended) and then we'd see a person doing things Prue may not have done.

It would make sense to have both the protagonist and viewer question if we really were watching a person who had extraordinary abilities and used them to fight evil, or if it was just a fantasy in their minds. Actually to a degree this concept was used in a Twilight Zone episode as well (that everything around them was someone's dream and when he work up, their world would end). Another show had the protagonist find himself on a TV set and being an actor!

Supernatural had one as well.

💥 Absolutely agree. Their dynamic as 'brothers in arms' or 'bros against demons' could have played out so well if they hadn't mistreated Cole's and Leo's character and storyline. Just thinking about Supernatural, it reminds me that they could have written a small side story for Leo to get to know Cole and vice versa. Them fighting demons, having cold beers, using white magic to summon a Ferrari to get away from creatures, etc. It would have been hilarious and intriguing. Sadly they didn't go down this route.

Well, Leo healed her wounds pretty instantly. If we remember that she thinks she was in a car accident and needed a wheelchair, she would have suddenly gone from that to feeling fine, which would have been a huge indicator that something was off

@@BetterWithBob Yes, I agree that is a big confirmation that she is indeed not delusional, but you can still feel shaken up because of the whole experience. They wanted to end the episode light heartedly, right after pushing Piper to the edge using all her fears and hopes against her. It just doesn't work for me, the way she instantly snaps out of it and is snarky right away. Really appreciate your take on this episode though! I've been binging all your Charmed content lately while rewatching the show, thank you for all your work!

Well the other instances are the 'to separate a witch from her powers' spell. This was to relinquish them completely. Since Piper was able to trade powers with Leo, a whitelighter can give up their powers to someone else too.

Telekinetic orbing is her Wiccan power so it would be removed with the spell.

I feel like by Season 7 it was as good as it had been. Not exactly as great but close to it

That pissed me off as well. Paige has all these white lighter powers and only one Wiccan power. She doesn't get her second until the comics. AND she doesn't learn to heal until season 8?!

Lol to quote Phoebe "sssh don't question the rules" But there is a possible answer thanks to a plot point in P3 H20, where Leo isn't able to heal because there's something greater at play. He couldn't heal Piper's poison oak rashes because her staying home meant that she found Patty and Sam's old love letters, which is what led to them being able to vanquish the demon for good. So Leo not being able to heal Christopher in owl form allowed things to unfold in a way that worked out best for everyone - the curse is broken during the eclipse, the kiss gets rid of the sorcerer and Piper learns a lesson about love conquering all, meaning her and Leo eventually get to have a wedding with the Elders' approval. I'd guess that Angels of Destiny are involved.

@@BetterWithBob Yes, the great thing about it is the fact that we jump several times between mental institute and Sunnydale, but Buffy in her Sunnydale life acts now as if she was a real human being believing she has powers to fight demons and it shows how dangerous and crazy this would happen... Also I believe that it keeps the door open at the end, there is a tiny chance that Buffy is still in the institute, or was since the beginning rewriting the whole show for people who want to view it this way. And also it hit very hard on the criticism of what it is to be a Buffy fan or just a TV viewer, the doctor and parents speeches are almost insulting us, pretending one has to be deeply and sadly crazy to enjoy and believe all those stories. It's very dark how it makes sens at some point, it's like our parents best arguments against TV packed in one episode and the harsh truth of mental illness that may be behind somebody believing in real magic and so on...

@@nad3359 While I have a soft spot for both shows, I do appreciate how Buffy manages its lore, tone, and world-building much better and I'd say it's the better one, if only because it already had the backstory of Buffy's resurrection and a bigger cast of characters to utilize. If Charmed were able to explore its backstories better (like who are these random girl friends we never see again?), viewed Paige's arrival as a threat to her sanity (much like how Dawn is this suspicious new part of her life), and maybe even gotten Prue back to cameo (unfeasible, I know), then there would be more impact.

If he had Phoebe's powers it probably would've saved him. Phoebe probably didn't have any offensive/defensive powers around this time but disregarding her powers was the Sources downfall. He had a seer but she didn't see Phoebe's premonition which is what actually came true

@Frankie Smith the Seer sent Cole with the Hollow inside him to Phoebe when the Source was about to Fireball her I think the Seer knew that would happen. Well she let it happen as the other option was " the end of all magic and life as we know it" (paraphrasing) if the source continued his use of the Hollow.

It wasn't just about going to a baby show with some friends. It always surprises me when people have this take. Piper was born into being a witch and just had this saving innocents thing thrusted upon her. She never fully chose a life like that. And basically being a witch meant she had to put everything else, her hopes and dreams in life on the back burner and focus on saving random people all the days of her life. She almost couldn't get pregnant because of it. It made perfect sense why she felt the way she did.

Now that is a spicy take and I love it 😅

@@BetterWithBob I’m actually not a big fan of the season 6 finale. The courtship of Wyatt’s father was a good episode. I think the series doesn’t get back to its roots until mid-way through season 6.
