If it's in good shape why not? The one in this video is barely used, there wouldn't be any problems there..doesn't seem like it but you can get away with a lot of things in an engine. Sometimes replacing smaller things is just an excess of caution ;)
@archiedentone5950
@archiedentone5950 2 жыл бұрын
@@RoadUser_Motovlog because it crushes and conforms to the irregularities in the two surfaces. You will never have it in the exact same place the second time. It will be a problem in the future
@RoadUser_Motovlog
@RoadUser_Motovlog 2 жыл бұрын
@@archiedentone5950 yes and no..of course it crushes and you'll never put it exactly in the same place twice, but in this specific case we're talking about an almost brand new engine that barely started and didn't really heat up, and while it's true that the gasket shapes up like the small imperfections of the surfaces we need to keep in mind that we're talking about a fraction of a fraction of a millimeter. The gasket wouldn't truly adapt to the parts until it went on a full heat up/cool down and stress cycle. If this happened after a few Km i'd scrap it too, but since the bike never even left the lift it's really unlikely that reusing that gasket will cause problems in the future.
@dirtygarageguy
@dirtygarageguy 2 жыл бұрын
@@RoadUser_Motovlog lol when did you decide to make all that up? The gasket is deformed and this adds an elastic stress to the material. This is like a pre-load on between the surfaces and gasket. This is the same as spark plug gaskets. Thermal cycling actually reduces this deformation induced stress over time. This is one of the reasons why you re-torque or have TTY head bolts. Stop spreading nonesense.

I had this happen to an old friends Mitsubishi eclipse GSX, he had a built engine, and someone blocked the passage to oil the head with RTV and needless to say, some ugly things happened. I was able to clean it out with compressed air, he got the head and cams cleaned up and the car ran fine after.

The head was supposed to be complete from the shop they had assemble it. Brian SHOULD have double-checked it, but wasn't expecting anything to be remiss. Valves have small 'keeper clips' that hold them in place. If one disconnects, the valve will just fall into the chamber.
