ℹ️ About the episode:
When we asked the KYD community what we should do in New Hamshire, all the responses were the same - The White Mountains. Especially in October when the leaves are just starting to change. We stayed at the KOA in Littleton / Franconia Notch and drove Kancamagus Scenic Byway. We enjoyed our time in the White Mountains and have even more to share with you in Stowe Vermont as we travel down route 100.

Yes...it's true....the top fire ring was upside down. The boys got it out quickly for a side by side demonstration and I didn't notice until the next morning. The KYD crowd doesn't miss a thing! Love it!

We go to the white mountains from mass every weekend we can. One day hope to stay up there. So happy you shared this area. We bought a book this summer that talks of all the hidden swim holes. Oh my gosh we felt so lucky to go enjoy them, many times had them all to ourselves.

We have been following your channel for at least a year and a half now and truly love it. It always makes us want to go out with the trailer, we have a little Casita, so thank you for that. 4 weeks ago we were in Sedona camping and a young couple walked by our site and said hi. As they passed I saw the woman wearing a KYD t-shirt (Summer to remember) and was feeling like we were kindred spirits. As they got to far away, I thought I should have yelled after them and said something. I want you to know that next time I will be sure to talk to all KYD followers as I’m sure they will rave about you too. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Yes, the Solo Stove is smoke free! We use ours every trip - but the trim ring is upside down in the video. When turned over the air circulates properly and the flames come out of the upper holes. It’s awesome, just like your video - thanks for another beautiful adventure! 😎

I'm guessing the flames are not so high or smoke filled, since the smoke is being sucked back in for a second burn, there is less oxygen to fuel the flames... Kind of like a catalytic converter in car exhaust or a PCV valve on an engine...

We absolutely LOVE our Solo Bonfire and there is plenty of room on the Bedslide in the back of our F250! :D Like others have said, the top ring was upside down and it would have burned even better with it flipped. One Weber grill starter cube, three or four pieces of wood, and 2 minutes...PRESTO, beautiful campfire! Watching the re-burn is absolutely mesmerizing. Loved the video!

Thank you guys so much for inspiring us to chase our travel dreams. We’ve learned so much from you since making the decision to go full time. We jumped head first. Never owned an RV before but planned it out, sold our stuff, bought a truck and RV over the course of 5 months. We’ve now been on the road as full timers for a month. My wife Victoria is working as a Travel Nurse. We’ll be changing cities every couple months and are documenting the whole thing. We’re currently in Austin, TX and hope to inspire others to chase their travel dreams just like you did for us! Thank you KYD!!!

To bad you missed the Flume and Basin. These are highlights of Franconia Notch now that The Old Man of the Mountains has passed. You will have to go back again and spend more time there. The Cog Railway and the Mount Washington Hotel are also nice to see this time of year. COVID kept us from going back home to NH from AZ but we will be back there next Sept- Oct to see the sights and visit family and friends. Enjoying your trip to New England with you.

The ring on the top of the solo stove is upside down which does hinder the solo stove functioning as designed, as well as the firewood is not supposed to be above the holes on the inside rim of the solo stove. We have the 30in Yukon, and love it! There is another brand that makes a smokeless in the USA but much more $. The awesome part of having your own solo stove for fulltime rv’ing is who knows what people put in the camp fire rings at all the state parks of which the chemicals leach out every burn. With your own solo stove, you make sure nothing toxic is burned in your solo stove. Peace of mind for sure.

Years ago we acquired a washer drum from an old top loader washing machine. I wanted it for when it was windy and the campsite fire ring allowed to much wind drift of embers. However it sure works like a poor man's Solo stove. Contains the embers, some but very little smoke and more heat than a normal ground ring campfire. I'm not poor but I'd rather put my money into beer.

We haul a solo fire pit in our camper, and our camper is so small that we have to store it in our shower. But it’s worth it! The only downside is that it doesn’t radiate much heat. It goes straight up. I plan on making a steel reflector to kick the heat towards us. And we use a Stomberg-Carlson grill on a stake to cook over it.

For campfires, using an old washing machine tub works the same way, allowing oxygen to enter the sides to stoke the fire. The smoke doesn't burn twice. The wood simply burns more efficiently because of the abundance of oxygen from the side, instead of NO oxygen from the sides in the park campfire pit.

We were going to give up fires - CA you see. But, thanks to your footage on the Solo, we have a new plan. Bridges - we did use one on the South side of Vermont. Actually went over, turned around and went back through with the AS. All the others were TV only. Too short or limited in weight capacity. All beautiful history. Leaves ..... depends on the location and the weather at the time. It's a plot to keep you (the tourists) coming back year after year after year. Cool place to visit. Wear your N95 mask, manage the bubble, and Roll-on!

Had our Solo stove for about 8 months. I would say the burn is noticeably FASTER! I go through more wood on the Solo Stove vs or open ring. One other note... the heat really only comes out the top. This means there is plenty of heat for cooking, but there isn't any lateral heat like you'd get from an open ring or shallow pit. You've got to have a blazing fire or be really close to use it for warmth. But, for ambiance, can't beat it!!! We love it! It's just not perfect at everything...

I have been using the duraflame type logs for years and won't switch back to wood. 1) you know how long the fire will be before it goes out lol- 3 hours, 4 hours, 90 min 2) far less smoke and you won't smell like a campfire 3) the heat is consistent and HOT. Two logs max will do ya for most nights. Add more if needed for larger fire show lol. As the log softens, you can spread it out around the whole pit to give even heat to everyone around the fire. You will hardly have to mess with it as it burns unlike wood 4) in a pinch, you can put out the log and easily use it the next night. 5) less space in vehicle because you need less than real wood 6) in the end, more cost effective 7) downside for full-timers, you have to know your seasons and where you can buy them at the best price. Some places carry all year long.

Hey Marc and Trish. I’ve been playing catch up on your videos. I must say we just missed you in NH. We stayed at a different campground in the same area and left just as you were arriving. We did the gorge hike and I can recommend it but it would be much better in normal times. Great video as usual. We’ll cross paths one day :)

Love the map idea!! We just got back from a week in Arizona so it will be cool to see where some of the places you’ve made videos of are the same places we visited!

Love fall colours. If you guys ever make your way north of Maine, into New Brunswick, you won’t regret it... Also Nova Scotia, especially the south shore. Peggys cove, etc...

I'm hiding out from the virus in Sun City West AZ, so basically I'm staying home and staying safe. Thank God for you and your hard work. Your videos help me escape being stuck at home and staying safe.

Enjoyed the drive. Now that's what I call a good looking meal. Awesome hike with water running through the rocks. Loved seeing Charlie as he is so cute. Thanks and safe travels.

We used to live on PEI (now in Alberta) and we would at least one a year go down to North Conway , and ALWAYS would take the Kancamagus to Lincoln so we could go to either Flapjacks (the BEST french toast) or pop up to Polly's Pancake house.... If you're up that way again I'd highly recommend them!!

We did the Flume Gorge in 1980. It was gorgeous and you didn’t have to have tickets!! Thanks for sharing this area with us again.

As a kid we camped in the white mountains two years in a row. That was unheard of for my family we loved it so much and had a great time every time!! It looks the same as then which was late 60’s early 70’s. In a pop up days. Also 1 of 5 kids family of 7. 4 girls 1 boy in the middle. Brings back happy memories 😁👋🏻
