This video is why you are one of my favorite KZfaqrs. You are so genuine, relatable, and honest with your answers. Even when it's a difficult topic or one that makes you feel vulnerable. This year has made me really look at people differently for various reasons and I feel like you are someone who is very real and caring. Yes please for a Theatre related video. I'm a fellow theatre loving person and love learning about different people's experiences. Also I think you would make a great counselor/coach/ and or therapist because of all the reasons I listed above. Especially with your experience and yoga and meditation I think would be really helpful. Also not sure if it's possible because it's very specific, but drama therapy is also something you may want to consider Or at least learn about to add to some principals or practices to use. Happy holidays to you and your family. Also which journal did you and your sister choose for your mom? Lol.

I am with you on 2020 life feeling joyless. Especially since I live alone and have been working at home. I've basically been in solitary confinement. I had to do something that I could look forward to. I've never been much of a Disney merch person ... I'm kind of minimalist and don't like tchotchkes without significant sentimental value taking up space in my home. But in August, I decided to order a Bibbidi Ultimate box for my birthday, and it made me so happy that I have renewed every month since. So now I've frankly got a bunch of stuff I don't really need, and you're right ... it doesn't bring lasting happiness, but it did bring me a bit of joy in an otherwise joyless year. It worked out well because I also created an office space up in my loft (rather than working in my living room as I had been doing ... I needed to separate my work life from the rest of my life). I've been able to make my new office space a Disney space and keep all my new merch in there. So at least the evidence of my 2020 splurging is contained in one space. LOL! I'm going to cancel my BIbbidi subscription in 2021 (get the spending under control and to stop adding stuff to my home) but I am so thankful for my monthly Disney doses of joy.

This year has been terrible. Had to cancel my wedding thanks to covid as well as my very first disney trip for my honeymoon. Had two surgeries, lost special people in my life. My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer and is in palliative this Christmas. But lots of good things have happened. I've lost 130 lbs, I am no longer diabetic, no longer take insulin, I finally had the courage to work out in a group of people, bought my wedding dress and started a small shop :)

You explained your journey with no buy perfectly! You should be very proud of yourself for giving yourself a break. You inspired me to do a no buy in 2020 and it lasted about 3 months. The pandemic just totally ruined my no buy, but I also agree that it helped change some of my bad spending habits.

Yes to Broadway content, yes to eggnog, yes to orange sweet rolls, and yours is the first Disney KZfaq channel I started following and what a rabbit hole it's been. You've done great this year. And my favorite Christmas gift was an 8 day trip to WDW for my family of 4 from my parents in 2000.

Omg!! I went back to school at 34 for my psychology degree! I just needed something for me and I needed goals. I had broken my foot and leg in 8 places and was in a wheelchair. I needed SOMETHING to look forward to and to prove to myself that I could. I knew I was in for a few operations, so might as well use that time. You’ve got this!! I KNOW you can do it!! Hot chocolate is literally my go to beverage all the time! I’ve been a little down because my area is currently in a higher tier so we cannot see family outside of our own household for Christmas so I’m very bummed out but watching your videos brought me a lot of joy, thank you for bringing us all some Disney joy and positivity 🎄 I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas regardless of our situations, we’ve got this!

I love your transparency and your honesty ( specifically regarding the whole no-buy topic) I totally agree. Being passionate about something ) like we are about Disney) and a collector can be very good for one's soul-- even if it's the silliest small thing to look forward to. A famous yoga You Tube mom of 2 appears to have taken her life as of last month- as many others felt too overwhelmed by events of this year and the world today-- so bring the Disney magic and none of us need be too hard on ourselves;) Happy New Year!

I really enjoyed watching this video. I’ve been loving watching the long form videos from my fave KZfaqrs while I’m doing a craft. It sounds like you accomplished what you really wanted out of the no buy year by changing your mindset. I think that’s really cool. I am so curious about your new KZfaq watching themes. Disney Collect 👍 I've been playing since Day 1... Love it. I told my husband it's a collection for me that takes up no space. Also I've heard you say your no buy went wrong a couple times. 6 months of no buy is impressive. Taking on an entire year was huge...the fact that you made it about halfway is absolutely amazing. Don't be hard on yourself. Sounds like you learned a lot so really it didn't go wrong, just went differently from what you planned.

I am grateful for more time spent with pets too! My sweet cat Gary died at nearly 20 years old in October, but I feel at peace knowing I was able to spend so much extra time with him❤️❤️❤️

Becka I legit watched this entire thing while wrapping presents and when you said it was near an hour I was like whoa haha. Anyway thank you for the entertainment as I wrapped. I have to admit I am watching Disney KZfaq less and less lately too...life is just so busy. Also good to know I knew your fave Disney treats as you mentioned them in the past -- I miss that red macaroon so much sighhhh. There usually was a holiday version or at least Lunar New Year and I will miss those too...You'd make an awesome counselor btw. Can't wait to hear that you get that started and I need to check out your yoga videos...I have never done yoga before hah so it would need to be a beginner's class for me.

I know what you mean about your pets helping you through. I lost two of my cats during this pandemic- Charlie (15yrs old, died in his sleep right before lock down), and Mr Norris (20yrs, I took him to be euthanized in June when he collapsed and stopped eating). I have one cat left, and he’s become so much more affectionate since he’s been alone. I also think he loves having me WFH.

I think you will make a fabulous counselor. Best of luck to you in that endeavor. My pandemic silver linings, more time with my amazing husband (he used to spend almost 4 hours a day commuting and now luckily can work from home) and discovering KZfaq. I followed one channels before the pandemic but now I follow so many!! I found loads of interesting and heartwarming content (like YOU) that had made some of the worst days bearable. I also totally agree with you on the eggnog and peppermint. Thanks for being you and helping us smile a little during this dumpster fire of a year!!💚

I totally get what you were saying about the no buy/low buy. I would normally spend money on travel but didn't do that as much this year. While it is good to pay all your bills you want to buy other things too. Give yourself lots of credit you paid off your dept and were dealing with so much this year.

So glad to hear about everything going on in your life! I feel being stuck being unable to teach again. My skating rink just got shut down until at least January. A field to look into with counseling might be sports psychology since you can use your knowledge from yoga. :)

DLP! Honestly as soon as you started talking about your fav rides there i knew you'd say crushes coaster because its rocks and we had to use our magic hours to rope drop it to even be able to ride it!! And yes the character meet and greets are still CRAZZEEE! we were lucky enough after my fiance proposed that eeyore and tigger had no line and we walked right up to them (I posted our pics in the group when we got engaged!) But now they send out random characters with no time or lines available so you can just interact with them ( my fav was stitch and I knew he was out somewhere) we managed to meet him also and I cried sooo hard that day..proposed to in DLP along with meeting both our favourite characters!!!😍😍 I agree...I really want 2020 to be over and for a healthy family and friends! Just a tip for going to Disney during covid. We have been twice now. The first time was when they first opened. It was wonderful. We walked on everything. No crowds. Safe distance. We went the 2nd week of December and we felt VERY unsafe. Protocols were still awesome. But way way more people. And people not following rules. We had quite a few lines we stood in that people were right up on us. A bit discouraging of course

I tend to use my bullet journal more instead of my planner because there isn’t much to plan now and it also gives me space to journal feelings for self care.

Hi Becka! Another great video! Kind of like chatting with an old friend! It's been very fun for me to "meet" some similar minded people during 2020! I've heard other people talk about having a Disney mascot of the year and I'm thinking maybe Minnie should be mine for 2021. Be sweet and rock the dots! I also want to try out the morning pages idea. Eggnog YAY. People make fun of me because I don’t like beverages. I like ice water, brewed hot tea and coffee. I don’t drink pop or juice or smoothies etc (I just don’t like them) but when December hits bring on that eggnog! It’s excellent as coffee creamer. Eggnog with two shortbread cookies is heaven during the month of December.

Oh, hallelujah to NOT being a lawyer ! I'm a former lawyer and the legal field is brutal - it's a ton of student loan debt (~$150K-$200K), a ton of stress, and is really, really, really hard on people who can't separate their feelings from their work. Lots of us who cared too much for clients and justice, just burned out. I think you will be an amazing counselor and will get satisfaction from helping people that you probably would not get from law. I like Elsa as a mascot - accepting herself and how special she is - "Show yourself, step into your power" Personally, I'm a total egg nog-aholic! I love when they release it down here in late fall - means it's the season for me! Love this Q & A and getting to know you better! If you ever do Patreon, this would be fantastic content on there for patrons!

Definitely don't be hard on yourself about breaking the no buy plans. Its been an unprecedented year that no one could have seen coming. We all have had to make adjustments with expectations and plans. It sounds like you still learned a lot about yourself and how you want to live your life, and that's the important part.

I've been loving vlogmas! I was very intrigued by your no-buy year update. I can relate to the feeling of despair and having nothing to look forward to. But I stuck with my no-buy and just wallowed in the misery. Lol. I actually just invested more my my hobbies to cope. It helped.

Amazing that you’re thinking about going back to school, and we certainly need more mental healthcare/healing practitioners. I don’t know what the programs near you are like, but the systems approach of Marriage and Family Therapy has served me so well in my career!

I think the idea of going back and forth month to month with no-buy would be a good way to balance it. Like a crash diet you usually go back to old habits after such an extreme change. Going gradually typically has better lasting outcomes. Good luck!

I don’t do dairy but the dairy free nog from Silk is amazing! I get excited when I see it at the store every year. And my favorite holiday desert is a big scoop of vegan ice cream with a Silk nog float. 🎄😋 The thing that has kept me sane this year is the “calm” app (I don’t work for them). It has meditations, sleep music and stories. It helps my 9 year old sleep too. Happy holidays!!

I think your mindset has changed on the spending you use to do. With 2020 buying a few things is understandable & you didn't go back all the way to your shopping habits that is a great achievement. Plus you still have items you don't want you can sell then you can use some of that money to buy the items you do want its like a trade. I was inspired by you to at least declutter & am not a big shopper & am debt free so I started doing that. I have more to do but thanks for all those vlogs on the topic.

Congrats on your decision to pursue counseling psychology. It's an excellent profession and I think you'll enjoy mixing your yoga in the practice someday. 😁 We're a split household on egg nog, but I hope you enjoy your treat this year. Becka I can’t believe how similar our lives are!! We both have a musical theatre college background, are Disney obsessed, have a husband/ or boyfriend that plays violin with an orchestra (& is not too into Disney lol), and we both contemplated law school this year (I chose not to do as well). Wow! Hope to meet you one day in WDW, and have a Merry Christmas! 🎄👍🏻😄

I’m from the UK and I remember when crush’s coaster first opened in Paris and there were adverts for it all over the tv. I have this vivid memory of begging my parents to go to disney because I had never been and I loved finding nemo at that point. We went I think a year or so after it opened and we were there at park opening and had to queue for about 3 hours to go on it but it was the best ride and totally worth it 😅 I haven’t been on it since because I tend to just visit the disneyland park in paris but I can’t wait to go ride it again at some point

No Eggnog yuck, my husband loves it. We Both still worked thru the pandemic which was OK but it was a lot. I did get to enjoy a little more time at home between work with most of our state closed and got to spend time with our dogs but sadly said good bye to one with no warning. Now just navigating life in a new direction, lets just say therapy makes you aware of things and it didn't help my anxieties but im working thru it. We also canceled our Disney trip this year due to covid. its been a hard year, its ok to find small pockets of happiness in any way you can theirs no fault in it I picked up on an old hobby and might be making it a career change. Very Merry Christmas and Know Your Not Alone in any of this madness. (socially distance hugs)
