Wore one of those for my night job. I’ve moved up to poly carbonate vests to move around faster but I’d have no hesitation wearing that $50 buck vest. $50 is a small price for safety

I got a chainmail vest its heavy but the only vest I trust against knives and machetes, I work as a doorman been stabbed on more than one occasion and had different vests true the years ..first mistake people make is thinking its totally knife proof its not it reduces the damage. .second its about your life so never ever use a budget vest and even if you have a good one there are no garentees so I decided to go midevil and even than no garentees becareful dear people be safe ....good vid .

yeah i have a at least 2 videos showing homemade stab vests made from magazines, would probably be bulkier though and heavier, but does work.

Great vid Mike...thats not bad for the money. I have the same armour i used to wear on a display. rated for bladed articles and ammunition up to 9 mm. To be honest, body armour reeks havoc with your neck and shoulders mate..I have issues with my shoulders now...Wearing the armour easily 8 to 12 hours a day, has made a mark...Not only that, in the summer months, it makes you sweat like a portly gal in a disco...saying that however, its better than not being semi protected. I saw what high powered firearms do to body armour..it actually causes more harm than good, as the fibers are pushed into the body, causing all kinds of issues. Very heavy too, makes your legs weak after wearing it for a period of time. :)

I got mine today as well For the price it's acceptable and at the end of the day you tried to stab through it with reasonable force and it stopped it. For me it's slightly on the short side and I have a inch or two at the bottom where I would really want coverage for and as you've said the sides are exposed. But overall I am happy

Grateful for this test, I have ordered one as I didn't think my cheap vest had any steel plates by feel. Turns out it doesn't as I popped a knife through it and all that was in it was the white foam. The descriptions on some of these products have such bad English that it's hard to see if it has any protection or not from the adverts.

I’d probably put Some sort of foam at the back of both of the armour to help absorb the force from the blade. Never the less 15 quids better than nothing and you can’t complain considering it stopped a Bowie at force

buy a eva rug mat and cut it too size. make sure you wear a sweat wicking shirt

To be honest, I expected the knife to go straight through it. I'm actually impressed that it didn't considering the vest's price. Those impact tests you mentioned will be interesting. I wonder if it will stand up to those and not buckle ?

Surprising isn't it Zed, i didn't think i would even have any panels at that price, will do the home office spec tests asap, i found the details on how they do the 24 joule tests and its pretty easy to do if i make a rig and the right weights etc.

My mate had one of these we wanted to test it and we stabbed through it with my Tod Cutler dagger. He wasn't wearing obviously.

Those products have not obtained professional certification from developed countries, and there is basically no safety guarantee. If you want to buy professional products, first ask if their company can produce professional certificates.

Can't lose for that price can you Stu, even if its just a back up one, spare for others or a bug out bag, or you could even use the stab panels to upgrade a bullet resistant vest etc.

Pretty good for £14 isn't it, stopped the blade 3 times! i will set up a rig soon do to the KR1 tests to the home office standards and see how well it does then too.

In Germany, when you read about protection equipment, there is allways a difference , schnitthemmend'/ cut ( slash?) resistant, ,stichhemmend'/ stab resistant and ,stichsicher'/ stab proved. So this vest shown in the video is clearly , stab resistant'. And allways remember the old tales: Even the magic protection of Achilles and Siegfried could not save their lives.

@ERRATAS 0202 you can as long as it's "reasonable" if they don't have a weapon you can't etc and to use a lethal weapon I.e knife you have to genuinely fear for your life even if you don't kill them.

@ERRATAS 0202 no the laws in the uk are a joke, you can use them for shooting ranges and targets but if your home got broken into and you were to use it on the aggressor then the chances are regardless of someone breaking in youll end up worse off and get nicked

it was difficult, i need five types of license just to own, use, and buy them, plus i needed access to specialist arms dealers who can sell these types of deadly assault weapons, then i needed permission from the u.k governments deadly weapons minister to be able to make this video as its a ten year prison sentence just for looking at stuff like this!
