I have a couple of tips to share from one Artist to Another ! 1. If you have something with the hardened Hot Glue on it " such as your Wife's paper towel holder , you can stick the item in the Fridge or Freezer for a little bit and the hot glue will pop right off !!! 2. When working with glue that comes in tube form, rub a little bit of Vaseline on whatever you don't want the glue to adhere or dry on ( such as your hands ) ! It makes it so much easier to remove , rather than pick off of your skin ! Bonus Info ... Put Vaseline on the tip of the tube for easy removal of the cap next time !!

Nice, thanks!! Well, the paper towel holder is toast, but I have me a skull holder now (I bought my wife a new one). Thanks for the vaseline tip. After every tutorial I look like my cat when he is grooming, just picking glue and stuff off of my hands. Cheers, ET

The whole time while watching this, I was trying to think of a way I could mass produce these (faster) so my daughter could use them with her 4th graders. I thought it would be cool to have the kids paint them their own unique way. Very cool idea. On a scale of one to ten I give this a nine!

I'm a sculptor (amateur) and I love the idea of creating a skull form armature. This would be super fun to do for a Halloween sculpt as a base for a mummy or zombie or something. Plus just as a regular skull they look awesome.

Lainey Bug. I agree! 👍 I was thinking very similar thoughts. I think they'd be great with a little paint or stain and maybe a little glow in the dark paint with white, black, or red lights inside them and strategically placed for a great Halloween 🎃 display whether it be placed on a stand in various places with raggedy and/or pirate-y clothing draped over it or strung together like a giant strand of electric or battery candle or tea lights at an entry way. Sounds like a lot of work but worth it if one turns their work into a fun party with yummy weird snacks. 🎃

I'm sure if you heat it long enough, they may melt together, or if you push too hard with the sponge, you may deform the hot skull below. So, if done carefully, I don't see an issue with using plastic skulls, especially the hard plastic ones. Cheers, ET

I have another idea you might try. What if you cut a slit from top to bottom and put the skull in then tape or glue the slit shut. Drill a hole in the cap and install a fitting that you could hook to a hose. You could then hook up a small vacuum and heat the jug with the heat gun or possibly rig up a way to put the whole thing in an oven. After you essentially vacuum pack the skull in a melted milk jug, you could cool it and lightly pressurise it to help it release. Cut away as much as you have to, and remove the skull. I'm not dissing your way by any means, I just thought that this could be a cool experiment.

Nice idea! 👍👍 I wonder if ever-so-lightly coating both the towel stand (after adding/drying the glue blob) and the skull💀 with petroleum jelly might prevent the ruin of your holder AND ensure the molded plastic doesn't stick to the skull itself. Anyhow, thanks for the fun, down-to-earth tutorial!

You could have removed the hot clue with the heat gun and a paper towel. Heat the glue till it melts and wipe it off. Bet you tried to scrape it off with a knife and scratched it. Well, now you don't need to make a tutorial about how to make a molding stand.

i make a leather version you can wear similar to this. but i use wet leather sheets, and pottery tools to mold the leather into the contours. it will stay in place if you continue to burnish the leather until it begins to dry, only got about 1/2 hr per wetting. using ace bandages with alligator clips to hold it in place till completely dry. makes a great sugar skull mask.

You can easily remove hot glue from just about anything with a little dab of isopropyl alcohol. It's amazing you just touch your finger to the alcohol and then touch the edge of the glue and it breaks the glue bond. Then it just peels right off. What's great is that it doesn't dissolve it just breaks the bond holding it. Hope this tip helps.

It may be sort of silly, but in almost every store that would have Halloween items dusplayed, they usually put them out around the 1st or 3nd week of September, sometimes late August too depending on the store. This works the same way for any other holiday related items. Valentine's day stuff? Around late December, early January. Halloween?-possibly late August, early September. Fill in the blank holiday, same thing

I have been waiting for this. :) I love melting HDPE. My paper towel holder doesn't hold paper towels anymore. I use it for my different tapes like duct tape, painters tape, packing tape, etc. and so on. I have about 7 different rolls on there now. :D That came out so awesome! Fix the cut in it and you could cast resin in it too. Resin doesn't stick to HDPE. I already did that test with a small amount of HDPE and a rock as my mold object. :) - Heidi

Oh my god. I love how you were calling a store at the beginning to know when their halloween decorations are coming in. It took my Target forever to get there's in. Like Sept 20th.

I thought it was odd, to start a video telling the viewers to "hold on a sec", because you're on the phone... That just seems strange. I mean he could have simply waited to press record, logically. But eh, strange is good a lot of the time.
