I did this to a Neon, and a Dodge Stealth. The Stealth is this same color, and went over a black primer, and it took 10 cans of paint to do the whole car. Looked great. As this guy said, about 4 years later, it started to flake and chip....the primer is still good though...its a good, regular automotive primer, sprayed in a booth. So at $4.77/can, the Stealth cost me $47.70 plus tax....and the $80 for the primer, but you dont have to use that primer, I just did. Coverage was fine, no tiger striping on either car, everything looked great.

That’s on average around $100 more for each job and no one sells it local due to it being on “back order” but this one won’t need it for what we are doing. Also I have seen it last 4+ years without clear with no issues so not too worried about it. If it needs redone in a few years that still cheaper and easier than waiting on a body shop and paying thousands for the chance to pull out and get into a wreck because someone isn’t paying attention.

In your experience how does the rustoleum enamel paint respond to gas spillage?
@JamesDguy
@JamesDguy 3 жыл бұрын
I don't typically get spillage but WHEN it does happen it don't really mess with it. As long as its not a fresh paint job it don't affect it. I just let it sit till its dry then wipe clean with soapy water and no issues.

@@JamesDguy I’m about to paint a motorcycle tank where spillage is a little bigger possibility. But yeah...neither do I. Thanks for letting me know.

I love the color on this. All the little details that are painted on it make the car pop. Nice job!

Maybe I missed it and you went over it in the video but I’m wondering why you guys did not use any primer this time
@JamesDguy
@JamesDguy 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t always use primer because the advanced formula bonds really well along with the other rustoleum products. I have done it for over 11years and haven’t had issues with flaking or chipping (unless it’s not properly sanded). It’s not always needed unless you are doing a different color on say for example the bumper being blue, fender is pink and door is red. You would want them all to match prior to paint being laid down or it might look really weird and different shades when the final paint is done. Prime it all grey or red or whatever and the top coat will be a different color. Hope that makes sense.

Looks really good! Honestly once it cures more it’d prolly look really good if he painted the lower front bumper grill black to break it up some more! But the little hatch looks really good with the GSR Fat Fives!

Also wasn’t a big fan of the yellow headlights at first but with the turquoise it actually looks really awesome on both the EF and EM2!

I was surprised. It came out pretty good. I think I would have went with white though. White is a really easy color to paint cars.
