Cheap Tacoma Wheel & Tires - 3RD Generation TRD Off Road Plasti Dipped TRD Off Road Wheels + BFG KO2

4 жыл бұрынUNDER $750 + NO LIFT!! -- You don't have to break the bank to make your 3rd Gen 2016-2021 Toyota Tacoma look a lot better and drive exponentially better off-road/in ice. Check out these "New" wheels and tires. This combo of the the TRD Off Road Wheels Plasti Dipped Flat Black + BF Goodrich KO2 265/75 -16 + TRD stickers from Etsy (that's right, the craft website)... Comes in around $750 if your stock tires aren't totally shot. I sold my stock tires for $400.
This is a great way to achieve a very close look to the 10 spoke matte black TRD Pro wheels from the 4 Runner without having to drop over $2000. Toyota really should make a blackout version of this truck just like this.
The BF Goodrich KO2 265/75 -16 has no rubbing or any issues of any kind without a lift, so that saves another headache. Once you lift your truck you are looking at doing an alignment and a headlight adjustment and you will be putting more wear/tear on your CV axles.
This might be the best looking and best performing Tacoma cheap/"economy" tire and rims combo out there. The TRD Off Road 16inch wheel is a beautiful wheel, just not with the chrome lip for contemporary trucks.
The BFG K02 tires kill roughly 1MPG both on and off the highway, but putting the Rough Country Hard Tonneau cover on brought it back. You can see the video here:

For anyone watching, just wanted to point out it's a really good idea to get that new set of tires onto the wheels first before you plastidip, so you don't have to re-apply after the tire shop chips your plastidip putting them on.

Out of all the videos I seen you did the best job doing your rims in the Plasty dip looks great and the thing about that stuff it protect your rims. Then when you have to do them again I thinking 2 years from what I seen you have fresh new rims every two years 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Unless they live in icy conditions. In that case they are absolutely terrified in the winter with those stock tires. LOL Those stock tires were death traps in Colorado. Take care!

I did exact same thing on my 2020 TRD OR prem.silver sky. K02s way better than stock crappy Goodyear. Love the look and works better in mud and snow! Put 45 psi in tires and I get same gas milage. You just need pro grill and raptor light kit which I love on my truck.

Question: How did you get the aftermarket red TRD stickers over the stock Toyota emblem on the hub caps? I ordered a set of the 60mm round emblems but then realized my truck ('23 TRD Off Road) has elevated Toyota emblems. Did you pry it off?

Yeah, those just pop out from the back of the hub cap with a pinch, then you can put the stickers on.

tahoemx yup! Just get the whole kit and follow the DipYourCar process to the T. I took both left wheels off and then both right, sprayed one side and let it dry overnight (after removing the excess dip on the tires themselves), then did the other side the next day. It’s time consuming but not hard.

Seems pretty good! Edge of the wheel closest to the tire has a tiny bit of peeling (probably from off-roading and the tire flexing into it) but it doesn’t really matter because it’s black under there

Removed the wheels and the center cap. Sprayed them all separately. Taped off the valve stem, good luck!

Hi, I currently own a 2017 sr5 Tacoma and am planning to lift it 2.5 inches. I also want to get those same exact tires. Do you think there will be rubbing by adding 33’s on a 2.5 inch lift?

Dip is a lot easier to apply and way more forgiving with the finish. Spray paint can get runs and has to be taped off a lot better. But once I saw how good these wheels looked flat black, I did consider just bringing the wheels to a shop to have them permanently painted. The other thing is the dip peels off if you don’t like it which is nice.

So on a serious note, I recently purchased a Tacoma and when transporting my dirt bike, I was planning to use the bed of the truck. I also have a rear hitch carrier like yours, that I used for my SUV. Is there an advantage to using the carrier vs the bed?

With the tonneau cover and pop n lock (for the tailgate) it’s nice with the hitch hauler because you load all the stinky/muddy gear/camping stuff in the bed and keep everything out of cab but still have a locked space. Makes for nicer multi day trips without stinking gear in the truck cab. The tri fold tonneau I have from Rough Country pops on and off in about 45 seconds, so I do put the bike in the bed for around town and when there is salt on the roads in the winter because the spray from the tires goes all over the bike. So it’s definitely nice to have both options.

I love the hitch hauler! I use it on long trips when I want to keep the tonneau closed and locked so I can have more gear in the bed and keep it from walking away. They have gotten a lot more expensive this year, so maybe it would be smart to wait a little bit to let the price come back down. Cheers!
