HEADS HANDS and FEET is one of the bands that 'spoiled' me in my youth. This British band was overlooked by many in the US back in the day, but once you give them a listen, you will want to keep this great music alive and share it with your fans! Their first double-album from 1971, is loaded with amazing cuts; superb guitar licks, beautiful harmonies, and haunting lyrics, with a bit of country flavor, even some cow-bell! Start with these cuts and then start a playlist if you're convinced. But please don't bother with live performances. They just pale compared with these masterfully produced studio cuts. >Song for Suzie: (Contains a legendary guitar solo by Albert Lee) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ocxldJWfq86vaGQ.html >>I Wish You Knew Me: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q51_q5ugv7a1Y2Q.html >>>Look At The World It's Changing/You Because You Know Me: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/etqbireosrqxmZc.html >>>>Country Boy: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bq2qoNaotLe7qmw.html I will keep reminding you until you get the message.

Robin's voice hasn't aged at all for decades! Amazing!
@adampecsek3 жыл бұрын
For the third and fourth lines of each verse, he drops the pitch down an octave because he can't hit the notes from the album or live at Budokhan recordings. That's to be expected. You're not supposed to sound like you're 28 when you're almost 70. To say his voice hasn't changed, though, is a bit mistaken.
@melissas48743 жыл бұрын
@@adampecsek I think he just means he has the same sound. Many of these singers sound quite different when they are older and so the song sounds different regardless of octave. This sounds like a Cheap Trick song regardless of octave and not someone trying desperately to sound the same as they did 40 years ago.

And Tom Peterson with that amazing 12 string bass. That is an oft overlooked part of Cheap Trick's sound. Tom was the first guy, at least in popular rock and roll to employ a 12 string electric bass guitar. It allowed for a much more complex low end than a traditional 4 or 5 or even 8 string bass. Cheap Trick isn't the same without it.

I was working in a record store in 1978, and remember clearly the new Cheap Trick album, "Live at Budokan" coming into the store in October.....as a Japanese import ONLY! While selling it out of the import bins, I was watching the articles in Billboard about (after several weeks of CBS missing valuable domestic sales) the album "being considered for US release" to "imminent domestic issue" to "Budokan shipping next Tuesday!" It was released in the US in Feb '79. Amazing to be in the midst of it as it happened. Met the lads, btw, during our in-store appearance as they tub-thumped their "In Color" LP in '77, and they autographed my album and gave me a Rick pick! Nice guys.

I saw them almost ten years ago when I was about 12 or 13. School had just started, but my mom pulled me out of school early to get a good seat. Because we were hours early, waiting for the venue (Britt Festival) to open, workers came put to some of the first few people in line and handed out extra lawn seat tickets that didn't sell and we were one of the lucky few. For people not in Souhtern Oregon, Britt is an outside amphitheater so there's wooden bleachers that go up a hill in the back and the more expensive spots are on the lawn right in front of the stage. So, on top of free tickets to see them, (got them through an aunt who won them off the radio), we got free in the front tickets. I believe even Johnny Depp has played at the Britt amphitheater, and used to own a house in that town along with Bruce Campbell. Lovely, and historic town Jacksonville.

This song has a long and intriguing history. It was written by Cheap Trick's guitarist Rick Nielsen and recorded for their 1977 self-titled debut album, but it didn't make the cut. The song was included on their second album, In Color, which was released later in 1977. This version had a medium tempo with a country feel and a honky tonk piano throughout the song. By 1978, the band had dropped it from their setlist, but restored it when they toured Japan that year, since Japanese audiences loved the song. They played it on April 28 and 30 at their famous concerts that took place at the Budokan temple in Tokyo, which was a big deal because many Japanese citizens felt the temple was sacred and not appropriate for rock concerts. The concerts were released as the Live At Budokan album, which captured Cheap Trick's live energy and turned their fortunes around in America, where the album was released in February 1979 and sold over 3 million copies. The extracted "I Want You To Want Me" became their first hit, charting at #7.

Sounds damn good. The classic version of this song is the live version. I'm so used to hearing the crowd chants coming in at certain times that I add those shouts myself to this version, lol.
