Idk, that dish was pretty but also pretty basic. Lemon, salt, pepper, avocado as the base, a little swipe of a garlic clove on the bread and all that whipped butter kind of made me gag. She could have chosen whipped feta or some kind of whipped cheese, but butter?! And that much of it? Plus the rice paper tweel- pretty but not at all exciting. The chili oil was really the only thing to enhance it and I agree with him, pine nuts seemed like an afterthought. In essence, she didn’t do anything creative to actually elevate the avocado itself and I don’t personally care for avocados because I find them bland and their texture puts me off but I was excited when she announced what her dish would be and was put off by the lack of seasoning

Congrats to the new chef. Ryan is always a pleasure to see what he creates. I am from the United States and Buzzfeed Oz is really carrying the Buzzfeed brand imo. Just great a set of talent and wonderful personalities.

I think the winner was a bit lame, not in personality but mainly in the fact he was so critical yet had the least avocado-centered/ inspired dish, that also lacked any avocado flavor. I don't think he deserved the win, although his creativity was out of this world... Also, he gave a score of 6.8? Bruh, I can't, that score reminded me of the teachers who gave students an 89.9997% grade just so that the student had a B instead of an A.

I've always noticed too when a chef 'tries something new' or different, conveniently they'll mark lower on everyone else. I didn't think he deserved to win either. I think Ryan or Tankia imo.

@@golemofiron7250 I meant that his scoring was like a teacher not rounding up a grade that is a hundredth of a decimal point away from the higher whole number grade. In your case yes, that would be applicable, however, hopefully, this helps you understand an already simple statement.

It is so funny to me that avocado has become such a trend. Being from the caribbean I had it in many ways. When I use to make avocado toast or sandwich in my college dorm people thought it was weird. Lmao

"Avocado caviar" isn't exactly groundbreaking. Great that he explored another rendition of avocado but my gosh it isn't really that special since a whole lot of other foods can now also be turned into "caviar". His dish clearly wasn't bad. It seemed good. But I don't think it was all that either. Sheesh.

My favorite avocado dish is very simple; I take an everything seasoned rice cake, smear on some guacamole add chorizo and an over medium egg.

watching the reaction to ryans dish was hilarious and a big welcome to morgan! i can understand some people may not enjoy his commentary, but as a fellow (pastry) chef i can honestly say he is approaching his critiques in a very professional manner. highlighting the best parts of a dish as well as giving input as to where it could be improved. as well as tasting every component on its own and then how they blend together. very refreshing to see!
