Sometimes it’s nice to step back and enjoy the beautiful aspects of science! These chemical precipitation reactions are extremely useful but are also just beautiful chemistry! Precipitation reactions are a type of double replacement reaction in which two ionic compounds sort of switch partners with one another to create two new compounds, one of which being insoluble. The insoluble solid compound precipitates from the solution as a solid. The solid can then be collected, filtered, dried and used for other reactions. I have always found precipitations reactions to be some of the most beautiful solution chemistry to watch and it certainly makes for a good video! I hope you enjoy, too! Thanks for watching!

Hey Science Pirate, been watching your vids and really enjoy them! In this one, I just wanted to mention in particular the lead nitrate + potassium iodide reaction -- we did this experiment in my high school chemistry course way back when, but we used ammonium iodide instead of potassium iodide. I assume this means lead nitrate + any iodide salt will create the lead iodide precipitate (it's a beautiful shade of yellow, isn't it?) Also, may I suggest doing a vid on copper (II) sulfate? It's one of my favorite chemicals because of the awesome blue color it is. I know there's experiments that involve making crystals of it, but I can't think of how it works off the top of my head.
