The demo of Cherish from the day it was written. I hope these posts stop the sale of that cassette at auction. Not cool at all that someone would sell it. Not theirs to sell.
To be crystal clear if it isn't already:I'm referring to the music itself and not the physical cassette it's on. If people want to bid on that cassette and are willing to pay for it, then by all means feel free to.

@@prophetmadonna3744 William Orbit did production on I'll Remember if I am not mistaken. Orbit … because everyone wanted their record to sound like Madonna's Ray of Light. Pat co-wrote Frozen with Madonna but Orbit did the production. Pat had a hard time letting others work with his material and put their spin on it. Warner Bros. asked Shep to redo Like a Prayer, not Madonna. Orbit was a genius in psychedic sound. You can hear a little of the Beatles in DEAR JESSIE. Shep Pettibone made Like A Prayer better … the 7" Version and 7" Dance Edit. He understood source material and was more than a remixer by then. VOGUE eclipsed Like a Prayer by light years because it had a very unique sound. Like a Prayer is a beautiful song and many non-Madonna fans have told me so.

I remember my piano teacher wrinkling up her face in distaste and saying “Well, I don’t know who it is, but she is working with someone who knows what they’re doing.” It killed her to admit even that much!! I was telling her about Tears For Fears at one of my lessons and she asked me if they were married, which I thought was odd. Then she raised her eyebrows, leaned in and asked “...to each other?” OMG. Madonna certainly did have talented people behind her, as evidenced here, but I am really blown away by her vocals on these demos. Thanks so much for them.

Pat you and Madonna were a collaboration made in heaven, you made Madonna into the legend she is, the True Blue album her biggest selling in her career u were a master producer and Like a prayer my favorite Madonna CD took pop music to another level another number 1 best seller, in fact most of Madonna's # 1s was due to your collaboration, you are a master indeed wouldn't it be great if you could collaborate again with her on a whole new CD, you and Stephen Bray are the soundtrack to my life.

First of all thank you very much! I always thought that this was the best way to finish with the people that makes money with Madonna. It's sad that only this tape is known but there are lots of collectors paying money for rare stuff... I've heard of people paying hundreds of dollars just for "Like a prayer" album version instrumental and things like that... I really thank you so much for this. You're fighting against people who tries to get money with your hard work and in the best possible way, making fans really happy and for free :)

This makes me think of what makes a great song. You start from scratch and there’s so many things you can try and layers you can add to make it perfect. The final Cherish with all its layers is so pleasing to the ear, it’s pure dope like most Madonna songs back then!

This is one of my favorite Madonna songs from the 80s. It's very interesting to hear the original arrangement for this song and all of the flourishes and details that were added to the final version.

It always makes me surprised when I think how fresh her voice was BEFORE taking singing lessons for Evita in 1996; maybe she could not control her voice as much as she can do now, but certainly she looked more genuine!

Thank you P-Lenny! This reminds me that I'd bought the 7 inch vinyl single of #Cherish for my younger sister. Over time it disappeared from her record collection and reappeared in mine. Many years later I found out that #JeffPorcaro was the #drummer on the single and album versions of the song. Super cool.

Hi Patrick, big fan of your music with Madonna. Just wanted to let you know how much your Soundpage in July '88 issue of Keyboard Magazine inspired/motivated me to learn to play keyboards as a 12 year old! I still listen to a MP3 recording of Farewell Fancy Pastin' to this day. :)

These great old demos beg the question... when will Madonna's classic albums be getting the SDE treatment complete with demos, alternate takes (although apparently Madonna didn't do that much), unreleased tracks, a 5.1 surround mix from the original multitrack masters, etc.?? I'll go back to dreaming now... Thanks for posting these. Loved this album when it came out in the late 80s and remember how "edgy" LaP video was when it came out. Classic!

I’m not a crazed obsessed fan or anything, just like a bit of everything from Jazz, Rock, 80’s Electronic, Blues. I have to say this is way up there for best Pop song ever written & produced. There is not one thing you could criticise about it. It’s not even Madonna’s best vocal performance, I’d go with More or Oh Father for that but as far as the complete package, absolutely perfect, I don’t think you could get sick of hearing it👌🏻
