Great to see how you are getting on with your projects. Love the hexagon samples. I have found I get arm pain if I crochet or knit for too long. I alternate my crafts and this is a good way to make sure I pay them equal (ish) attention!!

thanks you for a great episode! I appreciated the tutorial video on weaving in the ends of the sock stripes. Have a lovely weekend.

Great podcast, as always, Sandra. Loved the socks, and the shawl, and the hangers. I get tendonitis in my hand and elbow if I do too much knitting or crochet, and at the moment too much is more than 10 minutes at a time a few times a day, which so frustrating, as it takes me so long to finish anything. But hey ho. Hopefully it will improve soon.

I do love those hanger covers! So pretty and your favorite is mine as well! Knitting socks totally intimidates me but I love the colors you chose for them!

Wish I had finished the video before I commented! I have suffered from tendonitis in my elbows from knitting and crocheting. It's similar to tennis elbow, funny with Wimbledon going on! I ended up needing physical therapy which helped so much. I discovered that cotton yarn was a big trigger, which you touched on. I also found that knitting was less strenuous on my elbow than crocheting. Usually after a long knitting session I will pop an ice pack on my elbow and even take ibuprofen if need be. Thanks for diving into this topic!
@CherryHeart5 жыл бұрын
So sorry to hear that Elise. You've got me wondering on the differences now, so I'll go look that up in a mo. I'f always heard of tennis elbow, without really knowing what it was, same with carpel tunnel at first though. I guess that was a happy place to be, cos I didn't need to know! I'm glad to hear that physical therapy helped though. Yes I find that some cottons are definitely harder to work with overall, my hands and fingers get tired quicker and so on. Actually I find that the anmigurumi can do it too, I think it might be because those sorts of pattern often call for a tight gauge. But yes, I do think crocheting effects me more than knitting too. Thanks so much for your comment! ❤️❤️
@EliseRoseCrochet5 жыл бұрын
@@CherryHeart I think you're right about the tight gauge for amigurumi. Never thought I would end up with an actual injury but repetitive motions definitely can cause damage to joints, tendons, and muscles. I am much more careful now!

You know it is going to be a nice little sit down when you look and both Sandra AND Sam have new poddycasts up. The silk and mohair in your cardigan will allow some stretch when you block it. I bet it will be perfect in the end. Ps...you are a crocheter...you can never have enough minis 😃

Excellent podcast today. Loved your honesty about the sweater length mishap and how you recovered, we all appreciate that. The shawl is lovely and the mini skeins themed for Wimbledon are delightful...and you say she wants to do something for autumn....how tempting, does she ship to the States? If need be she could gather them all in one box and send it over.
@CherryHeart5 жыл бұрын
maureen_c kriby thank you so much! Yes these mistakes can be frustrating but at least there’s some comfort in knowing it happens to us all at some point! Yes the minis are so awesome. I would imagine she ships to the states, although I don’t know for sure. If it’s anything like this time, it did come all together in one package, so it would at least just be one shipment. ❤️💕

My orthopedist had fun with me because I'm his only knitting-crochet injury-related! it's like elbow tennis, but he explained to me that many occupations and physical labor have the same injuries. The muscles around my elbow hurt like crazy if I'm not careful and mix my crafts during the day. I received a cortisone shot (I think) just where the tissue and tendons are, he used ultrasound to guide the needle, very precise. Beautiful episode as usual! Lots of love from Tennessee ❤️
@CherryHeart5 жыл бұрын
atrinka rac Ha ha, well that’s a claim to fame of sorts I guess! 😂 I hope the injection has helped though. I think you are so right, mixing up the arm actions with different things has to be a good idea. I also tend to sleep with my arms bent up too, which apparently doesn’t help!! ❤️

I've had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists and cubital tunnel surgery on both elbows. My doctor said you are either prone to those things or not, so its in your genes. I still sleep in a wrist or elbow (to keep it straight) once in a while when it bothers me.
@CherryHeart5 жыл бұрын
Oh goodness, sorry to hear that. I do hope you've seen some improvement though. Yes the sleeping thing I think does effect me too, I'm making more of a conscious effort to sleep with straighter arms!

Love all the projects! What about a hexagon shaped cushion made from the smaller hexagons?...The term you are looking for is carpal tunnel syndrome, something I've dealt with for years. You definitely have to manage your time crochet/knitting. Have a great week!
@CherryHeart5 жыл бұрын
DixieGirl9876 thanks! Yes I’m thinking of going with the cushion idea I talked about! 👍. It’s definitely not carpel tunnel tho, that’s in thee wrist and effects other fingers, not the ones I have a problem with. Doesn’t seem to be so much info around about the elbow version! ❤️

You should definitely speak to your Dr or your physio about your arm tingling. My mom had it when she knit and she would just stop knitting and ignore it till it went away. Then many years later it got so bad that her hands went numb even when she used a pen or typed at the computer. Her Dr said that if she had come in when it first started they could have given her stretches and things but because she left it she had to have an op for her Carpal Tunnel in 2018. She still can't knit but her hands don't go numb with other things anymore. All that to say, hopefully, if you catch it early you can just do stretches.
