Chess Openings: Learn to Play the Sturm Gambit of the Bird's Opening!
The Bird's Opening is one of the oldest and best chess openings ever played. The Bird's Opening is a reverse Dutch Defense, and has good chess strategy, chess moves, chess ideas, chess principles, chess tactics, chess theory, chess traps, chess tricks, secret checkmate strategy, and chess moves to win fast. In today's video, we cover the Sturm Gambit which is very similar to the Old Benoni Defense except we had just played the Bird's Opening! The Sturm Gambit is a combination of the English Opening and Bird's Opening, two flank openings which still fight for the center of the board. The Sturm Gambit is a good chess opening for beginners, and a good chess opening for intermediate chess players, as it has good chess opening traps, chess opening tricks, chess opening theory, chess opening moves, chess opening ideas, chess opening strategy, chess opening traps for white, chess opening strategy for beginners, chess opening gambits, and a chess opening repertoire that leads to tricky chess openings. The Sturm Gambit of the Bird's Opening is one of the most enjoyable chess gambits, especially as the opponent is usually not well prepared for the tricky chess opening theory which can help you win games fast. Whether you are a chess beginner, intermediate chess player, or chess master who has been playing the game for years, we hope you enjoy learning the Sturm Gambit of the Bird's Opening in this chess openings explained video!

@billi9230
@billi9230 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recomment to do this cause when he just pushes the pawn you have a huge problem. You can only attack the pawn on d3 with your light bishop and the Queen from f3. But he can defend this with bishop to f5 and then your position is totally locked. Also you cannot develope any pieces. I did it once and I coulnt move a piece. My opponent had controle over 2/3 of the board...

Very unfortunate indeed. I was thinking about trying form's gambit but then I realized that this enable them to decline it and enter the king's gambit with e4 which I'm not familiar with at all. Therefore for now I am sticking to a reverse dutch setup although I did switch the move order a little bit to avoid playing d5 on move 1. I play c5 instead and it usually transposes a few moves later to normal reverse dutch stuff. If they play e4 then it's just McDonnell attack from the sicilian which I don't mind playing against.

Hmm good question, there's a lot of different directions a position like this would go. I honestly don't have a "single move" that I'd recommend but I would say you could plug the position into Stockfish and see what it comes up with? Just keep in mind that if it is showing moves with very close evaluations, then you don't need to pick the "best" one! I don't really care if the computer thinks one move is barely better than another, but if I start to see a 0.5+ swing, then okay fine I'll listen.

Hey Solomon… it’s me again, the guy who suggested to copy the part that covers facing the From Gambit and launch it as a new video with a specific title …thinking about this gambit my guess most people will pushd4 , most of my Karo games face the advanced variation and in that case do u think it’s worth playing it ?

OH MY GOD SOMEONE MADE A VIDEO ABOUT MY PET OPENING! (Lichess user MidnightMaiden) I combine opening theory for the sturm gambit from the classical dutch and the old benoni, both systems are very key to study as a sturm gambit player. It's such a fun opening and since I only play 1.f4 as white, if I am met with 1...d5 I play 2.c4 without question. This opening is so so so underrated. After dxc4, I do not play e3 immediately, but Nf3 followed by e3. It doesn't prevent the traps, it doesn't stop your e3 at all, and is positionally sounder - there is a dangerous line black can play with 3.e3,e5 which 3.Nf3 prevents which I discovered in my study of the opening, 3.e3,e5 demolishes your central pawns. If 2.c4,d4 I too play d3 immediately before entering the leningrad-style setup with Nf3,g3,Bg2 - It's really the only way to play that response. I don't like your response to black developing with something like 2...Nf3 at all - Allowing black to take control of the central dark squares can be extremely dangerous for your king in these lines because you have played 1.f4 which weakens those dark squares around the king and gives black attacking prospects from that central control. The proper response if c5 is EVER played by black is to play cxd4 immediately and keep those dark squares locked up in the center - this comes from a rule in the old benoni system, after 1...c5, if white plays c4 without pushing d5 first, you immediately play cxd4 in response.
