Many players don't like to play 1.f4, but in this video you will see once again how openings are not so important when we have a good middle and endgame foundation. I am trying to convince you to play Bird's opening, but you should certainly take a look to learn the typical position types that arise from such an interesting setup. Enjoy and don't forget to share your feedback!

Learn how to play Chess the right way from beginner to master level. National Master Robert Ramirez will take you up the pyramid by following a proven Chess training program he has been improving and implementing for over 10 years.
Benefits of Playing Chess:
- Promotes brain growth
- Increases problem-solving skills
- It exercises both sides of the brain
- Raises your IQ
- Sparks your creativity
- Teaches planning and foresight
- Teaches patience and concentration
- Optimizes memory improvement
- Improves recovery from stroke or disability
- Helps treat ADHD
Chess is an intellectual battle where players are exposed to numerous mental processes such as analysis, attention to detail, synthesis, concentration, planning and foresight. Psychological factors are also present on and off the board; playing Chess stimulates our imagination and creativity. Every single move a player makes is the result of a deep analysis based on the elements presented on the battlefield.
Chess in its essence teaches us psychological, sociological and even moral values. In a Chess game, both players start with the same amount of material and time. The fact that the white pieces move first is considered to be practically irrelevant -especially because a player typically plays one game as white and one game as black. Consequently, the final result of the battle solely depends on each player. It doesn’t matter if you win by taking advantage of your opponent’s mistakes or by simply avoiding mistakes yourself. Truth is that Chess is an extremely individual sport and our defeats can only be blamed on ourselves and no one else. And this, in the end, only benefits us because we learn to be and feel responsible for our actions and never come up with excuses to justify ourselves.
We also learn that when it comes to our victories on the board, our opponent's mistakes play a more significant role than our own skills. Let’s not forget that a Chess game without any mistakes would be a draw. This way, Chess provides us with another valuable life lesson: be humble at all times.

Please - Never - feel that you are over-explaining or taking too much, as that is what I like about these videos. I used to play Bird's exclusively and it worked well for this middling club player. It is an opening that I will be adding again to my repertoire, as nobody prepares against it.

Now you are hooking me into playing the Bird's Opening. I love these Voice Over videos. Very instructive and easy to follow. The Opening is one thing but the tactics are in the Middle and Endgame really help me understand and know what to look for.

I have tried bird's before. To be honest it is my favorite along with king's gambit. But even though I have fun, I mostly end up losing with these openings lol. I have to push ratings from 1100 to 1500 asap, from which video should I watch your series? And which openings should I play?

Hey! I haven`t played Bird`s opening, but will try after this video, even though the position in the middlegame isn`t the one I like. It needs to do a lot of calculations and so on. I prefere KIA as white). The last game is in my memory you almost lost it though. But enjoyed how you executed him at the end.

I liked the 3rd to last game. That knight outpost was amazing. I would have planted my knight there instantly, like a reflex😁 I have never played the Bird, and it has never been played against me🤷‍♂️

My favourite opening for white is always Bird's Opening. Thank you so much for this video, Coach. But I always play Bb2 to attack b7 like your last game. Could u please play more Bb2 aiming b7 with help from Qe1-Qg3? Perhaps, u can show me or some of the Bird's players some ideas of attacking using Bb2. Thank you, Coach.

Hi Robert, I started playing the Bird a few weeks ago after watching you play it in blitz against Dana, I'm around 1700 and have better things to do then memorizing openings so it's a great fit for me. You mention in the videos that you've explained why we play some of the moves, Qe1 for instance. You say that like you have made lots of tutorials on this opening but I can't find them when I search your name and 'bird' are they members only videos? Thankyou so much for all you do

The game against Diersta29 was a very interesting Bird/Kingside Fianchetto .. sort of like a Reversed Leningrad Dutch, at least until 1:42, when Black blundered leaving no escape for his Queen from the a-file. Black was correct to aim to trade off white’s powerful King bishop, but should have moved his Queen off the a-file first. White’s play in hammer the Queenside is a beautiful example of how to exploit the strength of the Fianchetto bishop & pawn formation. Bravo!

Can't do 40 minutes right now. But I accidentally played this pawn earlier and got an award for the opening so I searched for it. Can't wait to watch this later and see how to play it ☺️

Sup coach’ so this might be a dumb question but should I focus on my attack or my opponents defense for example should I learn how to beat the London while using the pirc and work on my pirc defense depending on my opponents opening and vice versa for offense do I play my game or do I worry more about my opponents defense

Hello robert. I played it today but as I'm just 1200 elo my opponent was law rating so, not a big deal. I have a question. Will you make as much video on the bird opening that u did for the pirc? Coz I'm not sure we have as many plans as for the pirc. Thank you. :)

Hey Coach Rob... I've been playing some Bird as white for the last couple days and you have mentioned the e3 setup is more simple, and I seem to do better with it over the g3 setup. Is there a determining factor for you to decide between the 2 setups?

When the White Queen vacated to the h-file, black could have played cxnd2 even tho white could take on h7 with check & then play rxQ because black would push the pawn on d2 queen immediately getting another Queen with check followed by taking back the rook on the c-file. Also at end instead of dropping the queen, black had Qxd4+. Interesting hard fought game emphasizing the importance of counter attack with gusto if/when your position is falling apart.
