6:50 it's decisive. Kd1 was Anand's biggest mistake in this game, he stepped in to a forced mate in 6. Just as the commentator says "if he (Anand) goes to the wrong square it is check mate". Anand should have played Rc3 instead.

How lucky we are to have the KZfaq... and people like ChessNoir. It's pathetic that such an exciting game as chess -- especially blitz chess -- is so hard to come by on television. In my country no television ever presents anything to do with chess. There's hardly even mentioned. And just look how thrilling and exiting it can be! And as for knowing what's going on... Well, I'd say it's more difficult to make sense of ski-jumping :D Big thanks to the uploader!

Surely Anand's move at 7:36 where he basically retreated his king straight into an imminent check mate position, is equally if not more of a blind-sighted blunder than Ivanchuk's subsequent error? Unless there was no safer move for him to make in that situation? I don't see anyone talking about that
@Prasen1729
@Prasen1729 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah he placed his king in a checkmate position, usually king is not taken at a corner of the board to avoid checkmate. It was a blunder and so he laughs that Ivanchuk made a bigger blunder.

Stockfish says it's a mate in 3 at best for White. So Anand didn't make much of an error, his position was completely lost already. www.chessgames.com/perl/analysis?fen=6k1/pb3pp1/4p3/1p2N1PQ/4q3/1N5R/1Pr2K1P/7R+w+-+-&move=28.5

There does seem to be a big emphasis on time factor in chess, which I personally find very disappointing. Yeah I get that fast thinking is a skill in itself, but removing time from the equation allows a purer form of the game to ensue by affording both opponents ample opportunity to think and strategize before playing their next move

For sure Ivanchuk saw through the pawn on h2. Remove the h-pawn and there is your answer! He must have thought Qg2 Ke1. And never noticing that the rook h1 is indeed en prise! The battery with RpRQ on a half open h-file is most unusual. Note that the rooks are taller and a pawn can be easily overlooked. Who knows what Vasily must have thought after the game!
