I feel like if it werent for Bailey, Ethan would not have turned out this way. Think about it, Bailey found Hannah and brought her back to Ethan and then he reminded Ethan that he is Bailey.

Guess coz when he comes back to ethan he his this dog and that’s the one we see die at the start of the movie, I guess

I wondered that too, but now I think it's because it's when they were both at their happiest. When Bailey was a golden retriever Bailey didn't want to leave Ethan when he was sad, he wasn't ready to leave him. And that wasn't the last time they'd end up seeing each other when he would be Ethan's dog and not owned by someone else. They'd found each other at last and in all the lives that followed, Ethan had given Bailey a purpose which was to protect CJ and whilst he loved all his other owners, he always knew Ethan was his true owner. His boy. And he was THIS dog when he started his big journey given to him by Ethan and so it only feels right that his reward would be to finish his journey with Ethan (and in heaven Ethan was the same age as when he reunited with Bailey the first time.)
