That looks like unfamiliarity with the car by the Renault driver. The Chevron driver had given him the space to pass down the inside as they were clearly faster at that time, but when the Renault driver pinched the brakes the result was inevitable. I wonder if maybe the Chevron driver sticking to the inside of the track might have been a better plan with that being a corner where you don't really take the apex if you're on a quick lap...

There seems to be a law in motorsport: the bigger the accident the great the likelihood of it not being captured on film. ah Well, such is life. Nice footage either way. Thanks for it :)

cdname47 in my defence it never made a sound 😂 ah well it's not the first I've missed and I doubt it'll be the last. at least everyone was alright. and cheers shall hopefully keep it up👍

Very scary how long the Formula Ford driver is left trying to get out the car. There are sadly some muppets in racing that should not be allowed a race track!

miloudiben Unfortunately not many marshalls available for most test days, same goes for recover vehicles. Moves like the one the Clio driver made tend to be what gives Mallory the reputation of being a car killer. Just a massive error of judgement caused both .

miloudiben what amazed me was that a few months later that formula ford was back being driven on another test day here like nothing had ever happened!

Luckily I've not been on the receiving end. Formula Fords seem to be able to get resurrected very quickly! Merry Christmas!

At 3:48 it looks like he's crawling out of a cubed 2 foot long car! It's only from 4:35 that it looks a bit more survivable!

If i'm honest i initially thought that the wheel was in the cockpit and the driver was gone. The tub did one hell of a job in this instance and whoever preps it have done well keeping it good nick to keep the driver in one piece.

Marshalls in general these days are usually "oh, ff sake, gotta do some work, damn", the fkn Ring is the worse, I think they are "retired" Sloths, LOL

Dug into the grass side on and the force of it just tore the panels clean off. Not seen one like that in a long time.

The trouble with crashing a Formula Ford from the 20th Century in the 21st Century is that it looks like a crash from the 20th Century. Could have been very nasty.

They stuffed these things into the scenery on a regular basis back in the day. Would be interesting to see if this car ever sees a track again

If the car had caught fire the driver would be dead. Worthless marshaling as usual. That's why drivers should be required to STOP and help a fellow driver and the red flag thrown. Drivers are Get The Job Done types, volunteer, wannabe marshals are NOT

Most test sessions also don't have a marshall at each post, and in some cases no ambulance and recovery vehicle. Mallory has a fire car with an extinguisher in the boot. It rarely starts first time because its an ageing Rover. So yeah maybe during test sessions it really should be the rule.

Wow, thats quite a statement! Are you a “get the job done” driver then, or a wanabee spectator? Either way, I suggest you sign up and try a few days marshalling before making comments like that. If the mashals are “worthless”, then who’s going to “throw” the red flag then? I think Pescara hit the nail on the head - marshals cant do a damned thing if they are not present on a testing day. Nor can they do much if drivers ignore them anyway. Or would you want “professional” (i.e. paid) marshals; they would not be paid much above minimum wage unless entrants were willing to pay more for race entries (which would kill most series, which feed the upper levels of motorsport) and that would only attract folks with the skill and attitude of minimum wage earners! I’d prefer to have someone with the right attitude and skill to not go yanking people out of wrecks and inducing spinal injuries. People who want to do it because they love motorsport and may have even been competitors in the past and want to keep involved and give something back, not because “its a job” and they “need the money”. Or perhaps just dont bother with marshals at all, do all the flags with lights, and watch drivers decide whether to help a mashed colleague or race-on to get more points, ‘cos points make prizes (and thats higher up on most drivers priorities - “yes, I know its only got three wheels, is smoking like a bush fire, and laying oil everywhere, but I’ve GOT to get back to the pits”).

i'd have to ask what do you know about it ? done any racing or marshalling ? i dotn presume you havent but if you are skilled marshall enlighen us, i race so i know what goes into it and the respect that is needed

Dan Willars Marshal. BMMC, Silverstone and CSCC. I’d suggest you try it to see how “worthless” we are. Which series/formula do you race in?

@@andyowens5494 my comment was not aimed at you Andy but the one before, I know what goes into marshaling and have the upmost respect for marshals and the job they do, I race at club level and do my my best to respect and appreciate the Job you do, my reply was to the one above questioning your integrity I will defend it always
