In this video I’m working on a 2016 Chevy impala with a 3.6 LFX V6 it was towed to my shop by a friend of mine and he told me he thought the starter was bad. It doesn’t turn out that the starter is bad it actually turns out that the engine is full of water so it is what’s called a Hydro locked. I’m gonna show you the steps and procedures you take in removing the water and in the situation the engine actually had bent valves but more than likely that won’t be the case and this is the first time out of about 20 of these that I’ve done that I’ve never been able to get the engine to run. So it is extremely uncommon that you will not be able to get yours to run either. It is important that you take the water out as quick as possible because we don’t want things to start rusting on the inside of the engine. Another question for ya, Clay: When you removed the injectors from the 3.6, did you reuse the retaining clips? The damn things are $15 apiece and eBay or Summit Racing are seemingly the only places where 6 of them are readily available on short notice.

When I did mine I reused them but I never did it on the 3.6 I did it on the 2.4 direct fuel injection which I believe look identically the same.

@@sharpcarco I do believe the DI injectors are shared between the 4's and 6's (at least from the compatibility chart I went by.) Glad to know the clips are reusable, thanks for the input!!

Were you trying to do a full spin with the harmonic balancer in either direction? Which direction should it spin normally? Should it do full spins?

It would spin clockwise but , any direction that would allow you to take it all the way around would be good preferably clockwise because that’s the direction that the engine generally runs on most vehicles. Matter of fact I can’t think of any that don’t run clockwise but it’s possible. You would spend it backwards to hopefully get some of the fluid out of there that was the thought when I was doing it obviously it didn’t work in the situation but I have had it work in other situations…..

I did the same thing. I don’t believe the intake had as much water the spark plugs didn’t look wet. Originally right after the puddle it turned off... after waiting 24 hours the car clicked just like this video. They were able to manually move whatever it is you were trying to move... I attempted to turn on the vehicle after that and it cranked a little bit but would not do a full spin. This took place a few times but then I tried to turn it on the be more time and held it a little longer(hopeful it would start and then it locked for good. Any ideas?

Did you remove your spark plugs? If not more than likely you bent valves in the head and it needs to be disassembled sorry wish I Better news than that but it doesn’t sound good

I need some help on my 2018 impala lt 3.6l v6 vvt. I have to replace my bank 2 camshaft sensors. But I have no idea how to get the sensors out because the top support bracket that connects the engine to the motor mount under the intake box is in the way and idk how to or what to do to get that stupid bracket off to replace my two cam shaft sensors please help.

Well you wanna take a floor jack put a piece of wood on the top of it and gently raise it up to the engine underneath the oil pan this will hold the engine while you take out the mount Then you’re gonna remove the bolts holding the mount to the engine. Then with the amount removed you should be able to get to the bolts that are securing the sensors to the engine block. And I really don’t wanna rain on your parade but more than likely it’s not your sensors that are defective especially if there are two of them that are not reading correctly they are probably reading correctly I would highly recommend getting rid of the car because that means that the timing chain has moved and is no longer in sync with the rest of them even if it runs correctly. More than likely at times it’s running erratically. Sorry Kyle then engines are real piece of crap
