And I thought the nice lady with the Hyundai Tucson brought in a wicked mess. Oh boy! It's amazing how Eric O could get this vehicle running with all the homemade wiring that was going on with it. What wasn't surprising is that he followed procedure in a logical step to make sure power was getting to the relay and then conversely down to the starter. His understanding of the GM theftlock system was imperative to aid his proper diagnosis. Real life video.

Sapparo is one of the big Japanese breweries. They are also the oldest brewery in Japan. BUT the beer you had would have been brewed in the US as they own a brewery in Wisconsin. Japan has mostly the lower alcohol light beers. There are some better ones but those are sold to the "lower working classes" ... I will give them credit though, pretty much all sports events they sell beer and Sake in the stands (the Sake comes in juice boxes !!)

That's a hell of a value. I got swayed into buying a Snapon scanner for $3500 and I don't think it does anything this one doesn't. Not having a good scan tool is not an option these days, you will spend so much time chasing the wrong direction without one. That being said, if a person doesn't know what they are looking at, the scan tool is useless too.

I "Fix" stuff on my truck. I never did to the inside what they did. Most of the time somebody in their yard is trying to get something more out of a vehicle. Seeing what I saw looks not like that. I can't see what the end goal is at all. To cut a hole in the floor. That is a new one. I applaud you in getting it started. I hope the customer had you bring it back to life in a proper manor. Yet I know thats not what that poor guy did. I learned something. Even when all is lost. You are the hero. Great job.

Looks like maybe the engine was swapped or perhaps the transmission. Looked like transmission lines were cut clean and then re-assembled with compression fittings. Probably the customer's fault in the first place, all the hack job type stuff leads me to believe they're a cheap ass and don't have any mechanical skills...rather enough to run a sawzall and wire cutters and pretend to replace parts they have absolutely no idea how to do all the while just breaking everything they touch...makes me wonder why that rear drive shaft is in there, and the differential.

just one more place to leak water or gas in and worry about quicker spread of fire to interior in roll-over if the tank develops a leak or from the wreck. the idea keeping the fire outside the vehicle for as long as possible and it cannot burn through solid metal as fast as a plate held on with sealant and a few screws ;)

LOL I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. You have a lot of grace and mercy Eric. I Remember getting into a drug dealers car one time to pull it in the shop and it was all tore up on the inside just like this one in the video. I was more nervous about not fixing his car so we could get him down the road. I told the guys if he shows up again we are booked for a week out. Same crap as the Burban stuff was messed up. Probably some Tweeker auto repair at 4 in the morning

This video has definitely got to go into my diagnostic folder especially for troubleshooting the GMLAN/AntiTheft System. You are good Eric and you know your stuff. I am trying to save up for that Autel Maxisys Scanner I still use the Autel DS708 and I will not renew my subscription this year. I still get good data and can do alot with it especially for Air Conditioning Systems. Great Video. Thumbs Up

It wouldn't have been, aside from the engine fan was stuck on I couldn't hear too much wrong with that engine, the poor girls biggest problem was the person who owned it didn't have any of that grey stuff between his ears, it probably had some small common GM electrical issue and he decided some quick googling and a that'll do attitude would fix it, and another suburban bites the dust, i have two "suburbans" one is actually a Chevy from 94 and aside from the drivers window not working and the fuel gauge pretty much just telling you what it thinks you want, its a solid beast my other is a GMC yukon XL Denali that as she sits today has 359K on the clock and literally runs perfect no start issues and the interior is still in on piece, well as in one piece as early 2000's GM interiors are

I broke a little plastic fuel line retainer clip on a Porsche today. Even the Doorman one is special order. Now I got to wait two more days to get that thing out of my driveway! I got so mad when I broke it that I turned the camera off and threw some tools around the driveway for a while!

What's wrong with your torque converter? At least your truck's torque converter isn't hooked up to a leaky two-speed Slushaway like mine is because it's original and I'm anal about having a matching VIN number. I hope it can be saved. As much as two rather low-geared speeds can be painful to accelerate with, at least I have first gear and performance pitch when I want some fun. (*DISCLAIMER* with the lack of a kickdown, this only works when flooring it from less than 10mph, or else it'll slam into high gear. Well, slam may be the wrong word. It's a hard shift but still shifts smooth, if you can imagine that feeling. The usual slushiness of a vintage automatic, yet the punctuality. Only time it complains is when the fluid starts getting low, and I never neglect it beyond slipping. Once it starts not wanting to shift, it's time for the pink, sticky, sweet smelling bottle to open up, and it's time for the ATF-coated funnel to come out.) If that weren't all, the torque converter itself is a special snowflake that's completely unique to the Cutlass, Cutlass Supreme, and F-85, (Technically not, but the name is. Cadillac and Buick used a similar system) which were technically the same thing, but some genius decided to rebadge the same car THREE TIMES.

The great Kenny Rogers has a song about vehicles like this. You need to know when to hold em, fold em, walk away and RUN!. This one is at the point your doing the smart thing and RUN. Tell customer what's up, what it needs to be fixed and collect your money. This one is at the point of pulling the pin and tossing the parts grenade into it. That nagging feeling you were having at the beginning was GRANDMA telling you " this ain't gonna be pretty" !

Its like polishing a terd...Except this one will never shine.! It was very thoughtful to give you so many access doors to help diagnose his problems.. Lol Fuel pump, Transmission..I bet if you look farther back he might have had a access door to the driveline too. HA only door or lid rather needed for this was the trash can.! Your a good man for taking on the smell of frustration Eric. Lol.. 😉 More ice cream 🍦🍨🍦 for you buddy for finishing this one. Cheers

If there was a wrong way to do something on that vehicle, that old boy found it. Looks like he subscribes to the duct tape, coat hanger, and WD-40 method of repair. I don’t know how he has kept from burning it to the ground. I grew up in a garage in the 60’s and my dad would have told him to get the hell out and chased him cussing.
