I REALLY wish they would release/re-create an instrumental build of this track & LONGER than 2 minutes. Realnamejames/Chicago/Elements are to be commended for this Army recruiting campaign, but I understand why old school purists hate on this track. As i child of the 60s/early 70s, I grew up with Chicago (IN Chicago, btw). As a fan of hip-hop, THIS track is a head-banger...but REALLY prefer an instrumental/dub version. 🤩❤💿

The original is an amazing song and one of my all-time favorites, but I love this remix, too. The way the funky guitar parts and vocals were worked into the modern beat was really cool. It transformed a classic song into something new and modern. I remember immediately going to KZfaq to try and find this song after seeing that Go Army recruiting ad.

I’m a young but huge fan of Chicago . My dad saw them numerous times back in the day and I’m a guitarist of 15 years (21 years old). I’m also a music producer and want to educate the old guard about what this remix is and what it can do. This is called a sample. Sampling is the main aspect of rap and has been used since the 80’s. You know those Run DMC guitar chords that show up in the middle of their songs ? Those are samples of Angus Young hitting a chord. The original drums ? Sampled from John Bonham solos and songs. More importantly, entire hooks or lead parts of songs can be sampled and thrown onto a beat. My personal favorite is Bobby Blands “Heart of the City” being sampled on Jay Z’s song of the same name. If I had never heard jay z’s version , I would never have known whom Bobby bland was. This gives the opportunity for young people like me to learn about the music of your time.

I remember the message against war Chicago, my once favorite band, had on their first three albums. Unfortunately, the decades of living as multi-millionaires seems to have changed their outlook to the point where they will allow their music to be used to recruit warriors so they can become more rich.
