I have never been to Chicago, but it might be the only place in the world that I would want to visit strictly for their food. I have always had an admiration for Chicagoan food, especially the Chicago-style hot dog.

Chicago has some of the best food in America. I’m a Midwesterner so it’s accessible to me. If you are looking for a summer vacation spot, check it out.

Chicago airfare is relatively affordable from other American cities. It’s also relatively easy to get around too. Another advantage is that it’s less crowded than New York so you may not see long lines as much.

I used to live in Illinois. I moved 17 years ago. Everyday I crave the Italian sandwich and Hoagie shops. My soul urges for these constantly. California has nothing but chain stores like Subway.

Have you ever gotten an Italian sub at Valli Produce? Not necessarily saying it’s better, but worth a try. Make sure and go when it’s busy, like around noon on a Saturday.

Outside the Chicagoland area, it isn't really a thing. I mean, there is an Italian antipasto called "giardiniera,"which is what Chicago-style giardiniera is a variation of, but it's not quite the same thing as what you get here. It's more like a pickled vegetable side dish, while Chicago style is usually pickled first and then covered in oil. Our version is also cut-up more. i lived near charlotte, nc for a few years. more than a few paisans from the new york, new jersey, philly area. none of them knew what giardaneira was. i flew home for a weekend, and picked up a small bottle of fontano's giardaneira to give to one of the italian deli owners. he was impressed.

I used to think that, but more and more small businesses are going toward cash-only to avoid the constant rise in service fees they get charged by credit card companies. It also keeps their menu prices down.

It’s because the credit card company’s charge between 3.5 > 5 % on each transaction , some business “ eat “ it but most pass the cost to the consumer. This keeps cost lower
