Queen Latifah does NOT get enough credit for this routine! She knocked this out of the ballpark! OMFG, she is SO GOOD in this style! She has the body language and moves down pat, and she knows how to USE that dress to full effect. And OMFG but that VOICE!!! SHEER POWER, and I love it! I feel like her usual music does her a disservice after seeing her in this! Also - I love how her cloth is green for greed and money, just like in the Cell Block Tango where they use red and white cloth colors for guilt or innocence.

If you haven’t, you REALLY see her in the Little Mermaid live performance as Ursula singing Poor Unfortunate Souls!!! She’s AMAZING. I’m sad she wasn’t he automatic choice for the live action movie bc she blew it out of the park with a deep soul moving performance. As in you can FEEL the characters emotions as she sings the lines.

I'm an old guy. I grew up on the works of Rogers and Hammerstein and Lerner and Loewe. Although I count The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Sweeney Todd (Not the Tim Burton version thought but the original Broadway production) as superb works the movie version of 'Chicago' drips sex. Queen Latifa? Nothing but a rapper. Or so I thought. This lady not only did a great service to the character of the musical but has expanded into other musical genres that boggle the mind. This is a two fold lesson in life even in your 6th decade. Never judge a book by it's cover. And to artists or aspiring ones...branch out. Listen to the 'old' stuff and develop a style. Show us the talent you really have.
