Mushroom grower trick here. You can push the stem to the side and it will separate from the cap and won't leave the hard nub behind. Then once your oven is cooling down from baking those pies toss stems on cookie sheet into the oven dry them toss in food processor and now you have free shitake powder for your next meals. Love the channel have learned alot thank you!

Try using Extra Sharp cheddar shredded (Cabot cloth bound aged works best- shred yourself not the preshredded bag style), fresh thyme leaves, and fold the cheese & thyme into your pastry dough, reroll and chill until it's incorporated into your dough, then bake as usual. It makes an almost cheese cracker like topping and is YUMMY. I ALSO add roasted red pepper to my pot pie. I don't use potatoes either.😉

Great! However, most mushroom stems are great. Just remove the dried end. Then slice very thin, accross the grain. So good!

When I was single I used to cook like this for myself all the time. I got engaged and I cooked for him. Then I got married and I still cooked for him but not as often. There is something about having a partner but no one helping you wash the dishes that is a turnoff. Watching this channel I was going to have me back cooking on a regular. I'll pay the neighbor kid to come do dishes😂
