The worst thing about a Band Maid song is that there is a ending.

I have noticed that their instrumental versions feel like a group of friends having a jam session. They convey how much fun they're having with great musicianship and we can do nothing other than smile throughout.

Forgot to say "Freedom" and "Domination" live is where it's at. Honestly some of the best live music possible.

Dude,i´m 46 now,grown up with Iron Maiden,Metallica,Slayer etc etc. and i was always a Fan of this Bands.But since i´ve Discovered Japanese Female Metal Bands,Man,they are Replace my old Idols More and More.They are so good what they are doing and is so much fun to see this Ladies Rock the Shit out , its Unreal!!

Go back as much as you like. We all want to hear those bits again.

Another great thing about Onset is the lyrics are entirely in English.

Band-Maid is such a journey and I'm so glad a lot of people are jumping on board. Basically every live song is God tier.

Band-Maid always brings an Onset of love, appreciation and happiness to their viewers. Why? 'Cause they're so damn good - good-natured, good-hearted, good-looking ;-) and beyond good writers, players and performers. Wow, right?!

I mentioned a while back after watching the ladies do a walking tour in Miku's hometown that it was good to see them this way. They are just lovely young women. Very down to earth and normal. But put an instrument or a microphone in their hands and they become the real live rock stars. With all that implies.

Onset is a great instrumental song, and Without Holding Back is another awesome instrumental song which is growing more and more on me🤘😎🤘

Two things that will never get old: watching Onset and watching people react to Onset for the first time. Even the most musically proficient reactors (you know, the sort who break it down note by note and then somehow replicate the guitar parts) seem to fall under the spell of the magic which happens when four friends are having the best of times together on stage.

So many incredible band's coming from Japan that it's all I listen to these day's and I'm better for it, for me they are all on the same plain with the exception of Band Maid, the Maids have no rivals, they rescued me from a music desert 6 years ago and because of them I discovered so many great Japanese band's since, ganbatte kudisai Band Maid.

Every time I hear that tune it sounds even better for some reason. Band-Maid are unique for sure. They take all these different influences and turn it into their own sound. :)

It's weird, but when I listen to BAND-MAID I only get BAND-MAID vibes ;) hehe

Yep, this instrumental shows all their signature moves: Kanami throwing her head back, MISA rearing back on one leg, Miku dancing around and Akane with her beautiful smile. I’m glad to hear you’re watching interviews with them since they really are lovely people. Young Guitar posted an interview a few months ago where they discuss their latest album, Unseen World. There’s some interesting Instagram lives kicking around: one is from a “boot camp” where they’re rehearsing and one from last year is Akane’s birthday livestream which is really funny. There’s also a lot of fan cam videos in small venues - if you search for “Miku goes into the audience”, you’ll get some of Miku’s stand-up comedy.

G'day Chief - enjoying your reaction, reminiscent of so many first time moments with Band Maid. And you have discovered their flaw - their songs are too short! One 'trick' I use is to loop their instrumentals a few times for a longer play. But of course, like the solos, Band Maid songs are designed to leave you wanting more, and conducive to their 20+ song sets in concert.

That first section of the verse is such a simple riff, like it's all of four notes yet they make it such a groove. Both the tapping section and the 5/4 breakdown at the end of each verse give me big Rush vibes. And that dive bomb at the beginning of Kanami's solo, I can't think of anyone but Van Halen. I'm sure you've noticed by now how Misa palms her pick when she switches to slapping, that is some serious dexterity. And I'm pretty sure she's using her pinky for the pops. That lady must have incredibly strong hands. Thanks again for another great reaction.

I have only experienced such mega levels of talent and musicianship in the world of classical music and opera. No other rock band is anywhere near them and they haven't started yet. Check out their acoustic tracks and the ballard 'About Us'. And on top of everything they are the most even tempered, ego free group of friends you could hope to meet.

Another good one. Thanks my Friend. The true strength of this band begins with the writing and composition of their music. Having two geniuses in the band really helps. Kanami is the music and Miku is the lyrics with the others developing their own parts. A combination, as you can see, that is truly incredible. Add great vocals and what have you got? Band Maid of course. For something a little different try Daydreaming or Wonderland live.

If you don't feel anything when you hear this song, you probably don't like rock. If you love this song, you're Mediac !!

When I first saw the Thrill video it had just come out and I couldn't find any live recordings anywhere, which made me skeptical that they were the real thing. A couple of years later they came to San Francisco and I thought I'd take a chance, given it was so close to home. They were the real thing and then some. That was four years ago and they haven't got any less awesome. ;)

That's why I love these ladies so much. Just brings a smile hearing this everytime. I really love the song Rock in me, sung by Miku. She's so damn cute with the mind of a genius. It's a happy little song.

They're just having fun!!! Which makes their music even better. I'm a drummer, and I wish I had musicians, (and I was that good] to play with. "We're having fun, but we're Bad Ass MFrs". Try to deal with it. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Yes Chief--I was wondering if you'd checked out "Onset" yet and yes yes yes you had! Have you picked up your jaw off of the floor yet?! This tune got me GOOD--after the 5ths interval intro that Kanami plays is that cranked, crunch chord with Miku and the killer part Kanami plays over it, I was already stunned and got totally into it 10 seconds in! Then Akani and MIsa MIsa come in and IT IS ROCKIN'!! I loved it and of course you did too, we all knew that would happen! And you noticed the composition aspect of it which is just magnificent, the arrangement is top notch! Kanami's tapping on this (and well so many other songs) is SO melodic and inspirational. Just gorgeous! I think you agree that this could've easily been twice as long and it would've been superb. But Band Maid is all about taste and not overplaying which I respect.. And it does leave us wanting more! Alot more. Everytime I see this I think they need to be playing for crowds of 80,000 to 100,000 people worldwide! I'm hoping the pandemic will allow that to happen in the next year. They are such a gifted, heavy heavy band as well as being centered and totally committed to their craft. Everyone got a chance to shine on this tune--and did! There is such an element of badass joy that blows off of the stage, it's incredible to watch. There are so many other songs that will blow you away as well. ALL HAIL BAND MAID! PS-Honorable mention for MIsa MIsa MIsa's stage presence which is beyond belief-the swagger, the beauty, BADDD ASSS! I'm speaking about all of the videos comprehensively not just this one.

I'm not sure if you're aware of the fact that Japan has some of the world's most talented female drummers. Most of them are or were child prodigies. The youngest one is Yoyoka Soma (11-12 years old?) who does covers of classic rock bands like Deep Purple (Burn) and Led Zeppelin (Good Times Bad Times) but also a variety of other genres such as funk and pop. What's incredible is that she is a professional drummer and signed on with Pearl at such a young age. Incredible jazz drummers are Senri Kawaguchi (24) and Kanade Sato (19). Another one is Junna who seems to have taken up the drums at a later age (she's in her mid-20's now (?)) and is a demonstrably energetic rock drummer who is fun to watch play. Her drum cover of DragonForce's Thru the Fire and Flames is incredible! Regardless of their age or gender they are impressive and I am in awe of them. Hope you have a chance to check them out. Ciao!

Dude, if you think that puny drum solo by Akane in Onset is great, cannot wait until you do reactions on Domination Live and Freedom Live, you gonna have an eargasm for sure!! These fine ladies are my favorite band these day, they got it all, epic musicians (the whole band), the look (Miku's idea), the singer, the song writer (Miku and Seiki), the music arrangement (Kanami), even the sound person is epic!! Rock on ladies!!

The glory that is 'Onset', also known as 'Saiki's Pee Break'. They play 23-24 songs every show, taking over 2 hours, so everyone needs some time to rest at some point. The other members get a break during "Miku's Magic Time", but I'm not 100% on when Miku actually gets a break. Maybe all her energy doesn't allow for it. Band-Maid's my favorite find in recent years, and they honestly don't have bad songs. They've only improved more and more with every album. Kanami's (guitar) talent at writing music is amazing, and Miku's (rhythm guitar) lyrical talents are equally as good, even if I don't speak Japanese. I just look up translations like I did for Rammstein way back in the day. Unfortunately, Japanese to English translations are not quite as clean. Also to be good to MISA on the bass, notice how she goes from picking to slapping mid-solo? She's quite good at switching like that. For moving forward, here are some options. If you want to hear them get really heavy, the MV for 'Rinne' is a great place to go. If you want to hear another live song with some amazing solos, you can listen to 'Domination' live. Domination is actually the song I usually start people out on with Band-Maid, because I think it best reflects the sound they have these days, and it has an important message about the band.

Yes, who is playing instrumentals these days? It´s to give the singer SAIKI a break... They have some in their repertoire and playing normal songs as instrumentals or some even as acoustic. If you get your hands on it: Watch Puzzle or Anemone acoustic, you can hear Kanamis voice there and she also has a really really pretty voice. All of them are so gifted, but even with that talent they learn and improve more and more, never stopping... Everybody has goals in terms of music. Nice you are enjoying this band so much, it will get better and better, trust me. Greets from Germany again, have a good one!

I'm so glad that Miku is sponsored by Zemaitis guitars. They have such a distinctive sound. Not many bands use them. Have a good listen to her ghugging away in the rhythm of all their songs. It's a big part of the BAND-MAID sound in my opinion.

this song is one of their - Give Saiki voice a rest songs. Another one i like is TIME. This is one of the songs that Miku does. This live version i like. Looks like fan recorded but still decent. And it is in the UK in 2019. BAND-MAID - Time - Miku Kobato - Live in UK 2019 is the video title. Tho this one is for off channel viewing. For another older song. Back when i was sliding down the rabbit hole - the third song i heard from Band Maid is "Non Fiction Days" go for the official music video from 5 years ago.

Band Maid are incredible, I love Them ( have to listen to Them every Day ), but check out Wagakki Band "Senbonzakura" when You have a chance, a fusion of Rock and Traditional Japanese Music and instruments, They are amazing.

It's still a fairly young project and has only one song so far, which is called 'Peace & Love'. Believe me, it's worth it! :) I don't think much needs to be said about Onset. Nice to see you are watching their interviews they truly are something special. Sadly I think some of the best ones from a tv show Kannai Devil were removed sometime last year. Its more of a casual show and asks of their interests, what they enjoy and what has happened to them recently in their life etc.. instead of the usual questions about the band and music.
