In gridiron football, an ineligible receiver downfield, or an ineligible man downfield, is a penalty called against the offensive team when a forward pass is thrown while a player who is ineligible to receive a pass is beyond the line of scrimmage without blocking an 24:41 opponent at the time of the pass. It looked like they were blocking making it not a penalty. This is quite different than the McCaffrey play where they were not blocking. But no call leading to the TD. Great video! Well done. I'm a Chiefs fan, but which guy? I've tried finding info but didn't find what I was looking for on ineligible receivers when the pass is to a running back and it's caught behind the line of scrimmage. Not sure it makes any difference at all, but was wondering.
@davetrayford5 ай бұрын
@@jarodmorris611 It was a lineman; they are supposed to stay close to the line of scrimmage on pass plays (to distinguish them from pass-eligible players, even those who typically start the play on the line of scrimmage, as in Tight Ends). So, on 49rs "trick play", one or more of their linemen got too far down field to be designated as pass-blocking linemen; rather, they effectively become receivers, but without official permission to receive. So, the 49rs linemen being far downfield violates the rules. However, the NFL officials failed to recognize this violation, or they chose to pretend they did not see it. Bottom line is that 49rs scored a TD on that play that was not supposed to be credited as a TD; rather, the officials were supposed to deduct the 6 points and the extra point and penalize the 49rs; I think it is a 10 yrd penalty and the 49rs would have to replay the down. Basically, 49rs got 6 and the extra point that they did not earn. So, the chiefs would have beaten them before the end of the 4th qtr instead of the game being tied @ 19 points at the end of 4th qtr. But hell, it was extra exciting for chiefs to beat down 49rs in OT! So, it all worked out where the best team in the world won the damned superb bowl....again! GO Chief Nation!😀😜
@davetrayford5 ай бұрын
@@Zarab923 no way dude... you really think that not all of the 11 offensive players did NOT know they, the 49rs were running that "trick" play??? ⚠ Warning ⚠ Doubting the Chiefs has been shown by the state of Missouri to carry the following side effects: 1. Winning seasons by the the Chiefs. 2. Lamar Hunt Trophies returned home. 3. Lombardi Trophies not seen by other NFL teams for years at a time. 4. MVP seasons for Chiefs QB's. 5. Super Bowl Rings given to Chiefs players during "rebuild" years. See your coach if you experience any of the following: poor performance by other NFL teams, lost games by other AFC West teams, belief in other QB's being better, death of your teams payoff berth, chronic ref blaming and / or bitterness towards Taylor Swift and/or her groupies. Do not consume alcoholic beverages while doubting the Chiefs. Do not doubt the Chiefs while pregnant or breastfeeding, as this could lead to your child becoming a bitter Raider's or Bengal's fan and / or applying double standards to Mahomes and another "great" quarterback (Lamar, Allen, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Tua, etc.) Go Chiefs!

Your simple-minded post hoc analysis is laughable. Steve Wilkes held the Chiefs to less than 21 in 4 quarters and just one fluke touchdown. As usual, it was the narcissistic egomaniac Kyle Shanahan that blew this game.

"In gridiron football, an ineligible receiver downfield, or an ineligible man downfield, is a penalty called against the offensive team when a forward pass is thrown while a player who is ineligible to receive a pass is beyond the line of scrimmage without blocking an opponent at the time of the pass."

So the most controversial play and you giving it scant notice. Rice open for probably a 75 to 80 percent chance of reception and touchdown dash. If Chiefs lose in 50/50 chance overtime, the whole nation would still be talking about this. And what was so great about that throw to corner endzone? Why not throw high? Mahomes could have at least LOOKED at Rice. I think that's what Rice was so hot about. At least glance my way for a pico second. But no. Autopilot terrible throw under NO defensive pressure. Thoughts? Maybe you can do another vid on this play alone. Appreciate this video other than the Rice thing.

I thought the bad snap probably caused the choice to go to the Kelce or OOB safe throw. He had to take his eyes down so he didn’t even have peripheral vision on the D for a second. Had there been a good snap, I’d tend to agree, but lost vision is risky to continue the same play. Losing track of an LB or DB could lose the game right there. Better to be safe is what I think was the decision.

Absolutely well-analyzed and explained!!! Don't know what problem Creed Humphrey had...unusual for him to short-hop and low-skip snaps, but he did that several times throughout the game! He blocked very well for nearly the whole game, too, He had a better superb bowl last year with less experience...weird! @@johnsadler8637

this is how easy it has become for the nfl to rig games without anyone noticing. at 15:27 #54 (Warner) makes a great solo tackle to bring up 3rd and 1. on that 3rd and 1 play---- stop the video at 16:08 (mahomes scrambling up the middle). look at mahomes and look at the defender to left of screen. that defender is Warner (#54). that's an easy play to make on mahomes. Warner should've made that tackle. instead he literally lets mahomes run right buy him. not only that...but he didn't even get a hand on mahomes. that play is proof that the plan was for the chiefs to win and mahomes be the hero. and that's just one example from the game.

That solo tackle - was it on Pacheco’s run or catch? Didn’t that look like he made the line to gain to anyone else? That one and the one everyone thought Kelce had the first but they marked 2 yards back. Seemed to get really adverse spots a couple times.

Why the NFL would rig anything to favor the Chiefs, a team in the bottom quarter in market size, doesn't make any sense. If they were going to rig it, why not rig it for a team from California or New York?

Lmao the didn’t come back check the tape shit is so rigged it’s disgusting
@johnsadler86376 ай бұрын
I think any good tape-checking shows the mistakes the 49ers made that let this happen. Substitute right guard missing the blocking call and leaving Jones unblocked on 3rd and goal. Kittle doing the same thing and double teaming someone on the right instead of covering the left when McDuffie blitzed on another 3rd down. I doubt any rigger could pay Greenlaw or anyone else enough to tear his Achilles tendon, and looking at his toe almost hit his shin - that wasn’t faked. KC coaches figured out the 49er D rules and exploited them. Doesn’t mean it was rigged.
