Animal Control needs public's help wrangling Chihuahuas running loose in Maryvale.
They may be small, but they’re wreaking havoc in Maryvale.
Chihuahuas are on the loose in this part of Phoenix and that's worrying residents.
Animal control tells us the big issue here is overpopulation. Officials say it's going to take the help of neighbors to curb it.
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control says if you compare the Maryvale area with a similar sized area in Glendale the number of calls they're getting about stray Chihuahuas is twice as high.
Officials say that number is three times as high compared to Chandler and Gilbert.

We would probably hunt them. I would join in. But for other animals it would be easy pickings. They are loud, small ,relatively slow, they would make a good snack for coyotes, alligators, wolfs, cougars, hawks, eagles,hell maybe a mink may try it's luck, and it probably will.

Chihuahuas have their own personalities. Our neighbor 3 floors down has a sweet and loving one who gets so excited to see my pittie that he trembles for the first minute as he runs up to jump and give kisses to him. On the other hand, the only dog at dog daycare to ever hurt my dog was a Chihuahua. The cameras caught it. The tiny bully bit and drew a little blood on the paw.

Maui Caui Are they? I live in mexico city and you'll never see a stray chihuahua. And if by a miracle you do, you won't be seeing it the next day since someone will probably take it home. At least here they are not that common, people still sell them at high prices

I expected to laugh when I saw the title but this made me sad. I have a chihuahua and like most of his breed, they can't be too long without their humans. They're just so affectionate and loyal. These poor things have no one to cuddle with.

I have chihuahuas but you do realise dogs existed in the wild for hundreds of years before becoming domesticated. Wild dogs do not wish for human contact.

That is a real thing. Our chihuahua will find the biggest dog in the dog park and start terrorising him; biting his ears and showing him who's boss. She managed to get herself a Staffordshire terrier bodyguard that way. They look completely ridiculous together.

our Chihuahua is a thug. we love her. Rescued from a shelter 10 years ago. She loves little children and is an adorable loving dog but... will threaten anyone who knocks on the door. Best loyal gift from God. Chihuahuas are so smart and loving.

All three of my chihuahua were strays I adopted and absolutely adored them. They were the sweetest dogs ever, I only have one left now. The others passed away at 14 and 15 years old. My current one is 15 🥹

I recently adopted one of these little street urchins from Texas. He's a tough little fellow, quite dissatisfied with the Santa Claus outfit for Christmas pictures but he likes his sweater and heating pad. He's a good eater and he's getting more comfortable though he still growls and bites. He's used to fending for himself and now he has a helicopter mommy. My little Huckleberry Finn... 🐾❤️.

One time when I was walking my chihuahua I saw a person walking their really big dog behind me. I quickly grabbed my dog and held him high. The person who was walking the big dog, said “Oh no no don’t worry our dog doesn’t bite!” And I replied “ well my dog will bite your dog.”😂😂😂 my chihuahua has gotten into 2 dog fights so far 😂😂😂

Itz Jadee my Chihuahua is the same. She will go after other dogs no matter what size they are. I'm afraid she'll write a check with her mouth that her ass obviously can't cash. That's how her Chihuahua dad got killed. He went up barking to a German shepherd, and got nipped in the neck and bled out before we really could do anything.

Hahahaha, happens to me all the time, I get mad when people walk their dog without a leash, like good for you, your dog Isn’t a crazy ass dog, but mine have issues, they think their Pitbulls or something way bigger than what they really are. Tiny crazy girls, love them to death, wouldn’t change them for anything in the world.

Good grief! Train n discipline your dog!! At the first tenseness in your dog when he sees another dog before he ever growls or barks at another dog give a sharp short verbal correction with a sharp tug on his leash! If he ignore you put him on his side on the ground and hold him here with your foot until he quits resisting. Then repeat the initial correction when required followed up by second action if required with NO hesitation and MUST be done EVERY time it occurs otherwise the chaos continues. You can be sued if your dog injures another dog or a person.

Watching this in 2024 . I lived in Maryvale ,from 1956 - 1965 . I graduated from Glenn L . Downs Elementary in 1963 . Left Maryvale High School in my Junior year , moved with family back to Lynn , Mass . We lived on 50th Ave and Clarendon in Maryvale . I am curious where these little monsters are running around .

Odd that I'm getting this notification 10yrs too late but anyway. Cutest gang ever, I want to be a member lol. Hell, I would've helped with that, but didn't get this notice until like, 2 hrs ago, so I'd say that puts me a bit behind, the last my math checks out haha. By now, given a dog's life span (and that these were wild), I'm sure that a lot of them are not with us anymore (RIP to those), but I'm also hoping the best for all of them.
