When I am older, I want to adopt a child. I see no point in creating more children when there are so many out there that need loving homes. I can understand that people want children with their DNA (I guess), but this is so superficial... so many children need loving parents... if more people adopted that had the means, so many children could grow up in a loving family... imagine if you were this child. They are so innocent, they just need unconditional love by a responsible and caring adult. You don't have to be perfect...just provide love and care and do the best for them

I saw a video on utube of a lady who says foster to adopt agencies can help with adoption papers. She also said that there's a program that will allow you to receive the same money as you did when fostering. The system just wants someone to take care of them, so they will help you out financially.

Corrie Robertson it's really case by case. Some kids they end up finding a family member who is willing and able to take care of them so they go to them, some of them go back with their parents, some of them get adopted out of your home and yes, some of them get moved to other foster homes. My family did treatment foster care so the reason for them going to a different foster home before adoption was because they no longer needed to be in a treatment foster home

I might go to a foster home tomorrow morning. My sister and I are really sad and upset about it, but my little brother (Who is 4 years old) doesn't even know what it means. He's just so happy right now. It makes it even more sad to see the smile on his face. I barely have any chance to still live with my parents. Words can't describe how hard it is thinking about it. D:

I was a foster kid myself. I will not lie to you. I went in to the system at 14 exactly. I cannot say I was in there at 5, or 9. I can imagine it was a bit harder for those who went in earlier. Everything you say is true, but remember there is a lot of us out there. I am soon to graduate college thanks to some good foster parents. If this is not the case for you please get in touch with a social worker or an organization. I am proof that it can happen for you too.

Well either you want lots of money or you have a big heart. If you do care about them that much just know there are rich people out there with huge mansions they barely live in probably spend most of their time in one room, and rest of the mansion is empty collecting dust that they will spend more ridiculous amount of money just for a maid to dust it off. While you could use the space for all these children.

For teenagers, the foster home has to teach them to prepare their own meals, shop for groceries, look for a part-time job, etc. Foster home should not be a prison; no locking the kid in his/her room at night, no treating your biological kids and fster kids differently.

I hope you guys decided to do foster care. Mainly the "dysfunctional" behaviour is 1. a product of what they've learned from previous homes/schools/friends/families or 2. a defense mechanism to protect themselves. It's not easy, but it's definitely worth it. Opening your heart and home to a future sister is incredible (I have two sisters and two brothers from the foster care system)!

wow brings back alot of memorys, i have been in foster care for 18 years and been to 79 foster homes. I was born in NZ and fostered to America when i was 6 months old to 5 years old then returned back to NZ. I lived in Sanbernadino. I know what it is like to have the suitcase ready, i know what its like to have one eye opened well you sleep. I know what it is like to see foster parents children treated better than you. I know what it is like to be told you are loved only to wave goodbye.

The truth is they tell the public they are helping abused children, but in my case I was a orphan both parents died I had a old family. My mother was halfway through menopause when I was born. So honestly I don't understand how I even got here. All I can say is they never listen to the children if they are abused in the foster homes or by caseworkers themselves. They don't care about what the children actually want in life. All about making money adoptions bring them even more money to spend on themselves. I just hope all the children I know, and are in there now are doing all right, and living happier lives.

There are several factors that play into effect to why they don't live with their biological family. 1. The extended family doesn't have the room/supplies or doesn't want to take them. 2. The state not approving the home due to safety or other factors. There are some more factors. Some laws I may not be aware of, depending on the state. Right now I do foster care/adoption with three different states and the number one that I listed is what I've seen so far.

I really don't understand why children move around so frequently in foster care...it is very sad considering children need consistency and stability. I am in the process of becoming a foster parent and I am nervous about children coming and going when it's not going to be anywhere permanent. I feel it's important to have loving foster families (I know some foster parents just do it "for the money"), and I want to help children in any way possible.

I've been a foster parent for 5.5yrs now. Besides an 11yr old and respite kids, I've only taken teens. It's difficult and I feel the foster parent classes don't prepare folks to take teens. Not their fault, there's nothing that can prepare you for these young adults. With my job working in trauma and with youth makes it different for me. Several foster parents are always reaching out to me (feel free to do so) because of those extra questions &resources. I've had that kid that didn't want to unpack :( it truly breaks your heart. I've wanted to adopt 2 of them but by the time the one was 17 &1/2 he'd get more state benefits aging out. He's 19 now and calls me every week. It's rough, but stick to it. The I hate yous in the beginning turn into I love yous. They'll scream I don't want to be here and in a normal tone I speak back, but i want you to be here and know that.

The reason for changes in placements are as varied as the reason for entry into foster care. I strongly encourage you and your husband to contact a local Department of Social Services or private Treatment Foster Care agency in your community to attend an orientation to learn more about becoming a foster parent as well as to become more familiar about the many reasons for placement disruptions "changes in placement". Fostering is a worthwhile experience.

for the money and alot of the parents really dont care about the kids, my last foster "mom" made up lies about me and my little sister so we would be separeated, and when i left when i was 18 becasue she was going to get rid of me, she then told our case workers that i was going to try to kiddnape my sister so they moved her away from me. I just want people to relize what it is really like for foster kids, we can never trust our foster parents until they show us they care, which isnt often.

Your side of the story should be heard. I'm not surprised that they believe only lies, and never actually care about the children. They never care what the children have to say. These monsters make money destroying families, and kidnapping children for state funds. You should be able to prove your case against them. Your sister should have never been taken away from you. I was in foster care, and I didn't have a sister like you that actually cared. To be separated from a loving sister is worse.

I have an idea. about $1000 is spent on children in foster care by the state. It cost $10 to buy a cheap cell phone. Before going into foster care, a cast worker gives a $10 phone to each kid with no minutes. Instead of the case working going to visit every kid, the case worker just randomly calls the phone during school hours and ask if they are ok (case worker will also tell the kid to give the phone to a teacher or guidance concealer for further verification). If a case worker ever calls a phone and nobody answers, that should be a red flag for that case worker to go out and visit that kid

@elliebabe155 I think its a good idea for you to foster older kids, as long as you treat them with respect the y will respect you back. if you show that you truely care about them they will learn to care about you also.

The problem is that couples would rather have kids of their own, one that looks like them, they often tend to be afraid of loving a kid that came from possibly a bad home or they were just dumped in the system.

Yes many of them don't want to deal with a child that could have problems. It is not worth the paycheck for them. They want to be able to travel, and do things, and children with disabilities can be to complicated for them to do that. I would rather have people not want foster children than have people who don't want them but take them in anyway. Thinking they can pay all their bills, and spend money on themselves just by adding more children in their home. This is a big money making business to these people they don't care how that affects the children.

OMG WHO thinks the reason kids are in Foster Care is because they were somehow 'bad'?!?!?! I wish I could give ALL of these kids a home. What's worse is that a lot of potential foster parents want babies. They think all older kids have 'problems', and 'aren't cute', and they 'can't shape and mold them' as they wish. Half of them just want a tax writeoff. My BFF's mom has worked in FC for almost 30 years and I can't count the number of horror stories I've hears about bad parents. I'm sorry, kids

this is a ok video but what they dont talk about are the bad faoster parents, i can speak on this subject because i was in foster care i got out when i was 18, but though there may be some good foster parents there are defenitly more bad ones then good ones, what most people dont relize is that these foster parents get paid to take care of these children and there is a reason why the foster homes are so over croweded and that is because alot of foster parents are only in it
