+Kategorischer Imperativ In hotter countries that would be true. The chilli when put into cooked foods not only spices it up, but also protects it from 75% airborne bacteria and fungi which would ~otherwise without the chilli~ get to the food quicker and spoil it.

Ate one of these world known chilies over 10 years ago, and didn't know anything about it, so kept drinking water. I can't describe how much pain I was in. Didn't know that milk neutralized it, and water makes it worse. That was a rough 20 min. Literally couldn't sit still, like my entire body was on fire Was flapping my arms like an idiot. I can't even imagine how hot those Carolina Reapers must be.

Oliver Sander Persson Water makes it worse. Because water spreads the capsaicin in the mouth (capsaicin is the hot ingredient/substance in chili). Milk and yoghurt e.g. neutralize the capsaicin in the chili

For people who don't understand danish, a part of the conversation in english: Bubber ask chili Claus if it possible that he will die if he eats the chili (i think he is thinking on the worst case scenario) and claus says that it is healthier to eat the chili than not to eat it. Shortly afterwards Claus says, is there something you want to say before you disappear. Bubber also ask Claus why his stomach reacts so strangely with hiccups and other things. Claus replies that it's the bodys way of saying thank you. Magnificent video

When you eat such a hot pepper you get very euphoric (capsaicin is literally a drug, what we science nerds call a pharmacological agent). It's common to "bond" over it, and rejoice in it together. Look at Sean Evans//Chili Klaus videos how they love each other immediately.

My son and i ate some reaper today, just a little bit , maybe 1cm cube, the tip of my tongue felt like a red hot poker was being forced into it. my son said his throat was the worst, we both needed frozen yogurt. not to be taken lightly but I agree the taste was delicious!
