In this video I share what I learned from interviews with Chili's employees about Chili's culinary practices. We find out that many Chili's dishes are in fact microwaved as part of a scheme by Chili's executives to cut down on cook time. Chili's thinks these shortcuts will bring more customers. What do you think?

Used to work at Chili's. Can confirm most everything came premade and frozen. However, when I worked there the burgers were made fresh to order by the cooks. It's sad to see a machine doing the work now. As for the chicken crispers, those are hand breaded and fried. If the kitchen gets busy though, you might end up with one that's been sitting under the heat lamp for some time. If you're looking for fresh food, go for the chicken crispers, all burgers except the double patty lunch burger(which is frozen meat pucks), and salad.

I cut it for time but last year they got this new ceo whos completely obsessed with making everything in the kitchen machine automated so they dont need a staff anymore

Ex Zone 1, I always made my crispers fresh, but I can’t lie I always sandbagged the fuck outta BBs, eggrolls, and CCs when it got busy 😭

Your hairstyle is reminiscent of the Abe Lincoln coiffure, sans the wig. Not poking fun; I like it.

A majority of the food at the grocery store was shipped to the grocery store frozen. The purpose of freezing food is to preserve it for a longer period of time. That way it wont be rotten when you purchase it.

I have worked at most major chains (Applebee's, Cheddar's, Olive Garden, Logan's, Texas Roadhouse, Gino's, Shoneys, Buffalo Wild Wings, Outback) and currently Chili's. I've done it for 15 years plus 2 more at Culinary school. Most of what is in this video is "industry standard" across the board. During COVID there was a MASSIVE shift in the food industry where they saw that they could still make their profits with less employees. They have continued this practice as well. They literally are not allowed to hire the amount of people needed. I have never saw so many salaried manager's that are actually doing prep and cooking on the line. With the bottom end price increase of food, utilities and everything else....every place and employee are stretched incredibly thin. Personally, I don't have an issue keeping up but many do now and turnover is INSANE. Idk where these comments work but I'm cooking sometimes 25-30 tenders, 3 baskets of fries, and 24 wings and 30 boneless at a time. It's difficult but possible.

Most people who cook at home just microwave or reheat pre cooked food.

As a chili's food runner/busser/dishwasher i can safely say that the enchalada soup, baked potatoe soup, and the chili are all put into this container that has hot water in it to keep the batch hot. The enchalada soup gets this skim layer on the top if it becomes cold same with the yellow queso. Everything is microwaved for sure except for burgers, chips, ribs, and crispers but not all chilis are the same. The fajitas are put into these little bitty stove tops and covered for an even amount of heat but to increase value, they put sizzle oil which is a combo of cooking oil and water which is a business trick to make something look more appetizing Deserts are also microwaved. The cookie skillets, the lava cakes, etc Also the guy was wrong the corn is not microwaved it is frozen yes but its set to cook in boiling water where it is then taken to another station with a machine of boiling water to then be ready to use

You wouldn’t happen to know where I could buy those bags of soup? One of my safe foods is the chicken enchilada soup, but I would rather just buy it and heat it up at home.

Here’s some more “secrets” from a ex Chili’s cook: The “contraption” you called it is actually called the CTX oven, I’m saying this cause I’m not calling it “the contraption” multiple times •Salmon is ran through the CTX oven, it is not grilled •Ribs is ran through the CTX oven •If you thought the quesadilla was cooked on the grill, guess again! CTX oven •Molten lava cakes came in frozen and were passed over to chef Mike (the microwave) •Broccoli is microwaved •I can almost guarantee that the egg rolls you got was sandbagged and was just reheated 5 minutes before hand. This goes with anything in fry •for soups and queso (brown and white); those came in frozen but where put in a thermos to defrost and be heated in said thermos. FOH would come and get it BOH never served the soups •corn on the cobs were frozen and tossed into the thermos as well •When I worked my location didn’t have the press machine so steaks and burgers were cooked by hand by a cook (they still arrived frozen) •if you were browsing on DoorDash (or maybe Uber Eats) and saw ‘It’s Just Wings’ pop up, congratulations you just found Chili’s’ ghost kitchen. It’s Just Wings is no longer a thing but you can now order those sauces if you’re sitting at the bar. •The mini segment about the pasta being nuked 2 times is spot on Great video, however I’m giving you 1/10 for making me remember that shit experience of a job😂

I used to work at chillis zone 1 for 3 years. I personally cooked all my food fresh and even when I knew I was gonna get slammed I precooked only 2 orders up. Yes they do have heat lamps but depending on the cook you shouldn't use them. I didn't. I have been in the food industry for 15 years so yeah I know how to handle a rush. And as far as those burgers we pressed those out and cooked them on a flattop. That presser he used was not at batesville ms chillis.. but this shii is funny cause I fired over mashed potatoes 😂😂😂🤡💩

@@tommyroth_ so you want to trigger people with "american fast food place uses microwaves"? people know that modern american gastronomy has nothing to do with artisanal cooking or "restaurants" in the western/european interpretation of the term. who would be exited by a revelation like that? Or ... "Leak - Army teaches its recruits to kill" ... ? if you want clickbait-fame you have to contradict established knowlege. IMHO: you can do better! I saw your first video - you already did far better. Please don´t chase internet-fame with clickbait. Rather strive to create good content and become the next miniminuteman or veritassium. ;)
