The US has officially declared Taiwan is a part of China - since 1979. Yet we disrespect that relationship with NGO's and unilateral legislation all designed to keep the separation permanent. We send members of Congress to Taiwan - ignoring China and its wishes - even boasting how we don't have to mind what China thinks. We send military equipment allegedly to protect a region from its own country. We expand the number of Philippine US bases from 3 to 7 and begin to revamp the missile systems on Guam - all within the the last 2 years. So when China doesn't smile and say thank you may we have another after American provocation and disrespect - you want to label that hostile. I would say say it's a perfectly normal human response. Perhaps if the US began to show more respect and honor long standing agreements like the Three communiques- they might get a better response from China. Why would China want to sit down and talk with the US when they know the US could care less what they think and only seek to make demands. What a familiar story, yes? I wonder what would happen if China passed legislation stating it will protect Maui from the US mainland, and then began sending them weapons and parading Chinese legislatures around the island, boasting how they don't care what mainland US thinks?

China does see our system as having inherent flaws. Their perspective on things like democracy and good governance is very different from ours. But one factor that I feel really plays in their favor and not in ours is that they are very capable and proficient at playing the long game, we are not. Think of issues like the border wall, the Iran Nuclear Deal, and the one that frustrates me the most is ditching the Superconducting super collider after already investing billions of dollars into it, and regardless of where you stand on any one of those issues, a lot of it comes down to the agenda of those in power changing and often completely switching course every few years because politicians at any level are very partisan and represent interests that don’t align with the opposing side at all and often only represent a slight majority of the American people’s interests. It’s a challenge for us to find common ground on a myriad of issues all the time. With China it is not. They have been able to advance their economy tremendously over the course of the past 4 decades. We’re dependent on them for so many of our manufacturing needs. And they believe that a unified ruling entity is necessary to adequately govern a nation. I honestly feel like if we’re going to prove our democracy as the superior form of governance to the world over China’s form of “People’s Democracy” then we really have to move past this toxic partisan divide that we have in Washington and that’s permeated a lot of society in the US and come together. Otherwise, I truly believe China will succeed. It’s like the old saying, a house divided cannot stand.

Yo man. I live in the United States, and regrettably, the overall state here is extremely distressing. Today, my younger sibling, who attends elementary school, got blasted in his face. My father, who has a chronic illness, lacks the financial resources and access to healthcare and as a result, has developed a dependence on fentanyl. Adding to the desperation, my poor dear loving mother is compelled to engage in prostitution daily just to provide a meal for our family. She is very talented and very hard working, you can find her on the front page of thousands of 🌽 sites. These circumstances have led us to be homeless, forcing us to live on the streets, completely exposed to the cold pavement. The fear of potential mass shootings has paralyzed me to the extent that I'm too terrified to step outside our cardboard box shelter, fearing it might be my last move. If there were indeed another life, I genuinely desire to be born in any other country, in the hopes of finding a more promising existence.

Historically, America & 7 other European nations colonise various part of Chinese land for years leading to many Chinese people being victim of humiliation and shame. Do you not labelled such act being hostile ? Next, during the financial crisis in 2008, China came to aid US debt by bailing out your debt issues by purchasing massive T-Bonds that help to keep many people in government services their bread & butter issues. Is that being friendly or hostile ? Lastly, China has every right to develop and built its defence resources to safeguard their land & sovereignty due to past lessons.... when US naval or spy aircraft is lurching near to its military drill zone area and despite warning from Chinese forces to steer clear, US forces kept ignoring the warning sign and chose to engage them, how could you labeled the act as hostile. Imagine your neighbour kept pressing your door bell in the early hours and gone into hiding yet kept you awake all night..... so who's been hostile ?

Do you also need to restrict Chinese access as students to American universities? That is where a lot of the stolen technology is gathered.

From what Lighthizer said I could immediately see the incompleteness of his analyses and understanding of what's going on between China and US. He is totally ignorant about US's global dictatorial behavior. He has no understanding about the so called "communism" in China and totally ignorant about the reasons for trade imbalance. His view is mostly one-sided, typical of conservative American's. His book can easily mislead the non-critical readers who have no objective views of global trades and politics. An objective and knowledgeable men like Professor Jeffrey Sachs and Professor Richard Wolff could easily shred him to pieces.

The peoples Republic of China has been at war with us for decades. But we have not noticed or done anything about it. I guess people would rather have cheap crap that they can buy in Walmart in National security. The sooner we bring our manufacturing back home, or at least to the western hemisphere the better.
