In China, they have a large network of charging station infrastructure that the US does not have. They're also a leader in the solar & wind renewable energy. Everything complements one another.

Tesla was allowed to enter China with 100% ownership because authorities recognized the catfish effect of Tesla's entry. The catfish effect refers to the impact that a formidable competitor has on motivating those who are less competitive to enhance their performance and capabilities.

Actually it simpler than that, you can read the original contract between the chinese government and Tesla. Basically Tesla is required to invest 14 billion RMB for the facilities (a good portion of it are loans from Chinese banks at rate of 3.9%) and pay an average of at least 2.25 billion RMB per year for the first 5 years in corporate taxes, otherwise all investment and assets in the Shanghai factory would be given to the chinese government. It is a very good deal for both sides, however, I don't see anyone other than Tesla has the financial clout and confidence in their future revenue to pull it off.

@@seanwong8479 The real deal is China manufacturing 96% of their cars within China so every car Tesla sells stimulates Chinese supply chains and downstream suppliers like Battery companies and etc

Same reason as Apple. However; China at this stage technically more advance and China has commitment to move forward on high tech and shifting low end products to SEA or Africa.

Was a ICE driver before EVs became more affordable and in quantities. Now owning and driving an Atto 3 . Will Never go BACK to ICE vehicles. Sold by Mercedes C200 (2016) as a result. Says much about EVs.

Chinese EV will not come to US. Thanks to Trump, he said in Taxes recently, American only want to drive gasoline cars not EVs.

There is a SHORTAGE of EV available in others PARTS of the WORLD. Asia, S.America, Africa and EU. With Petrol prices being elevated ....... Demands for affordable EV are there. US market although as a "WISH LIST" is not that important. US Consumers there will be the ones PAYING the price for " SANCTIONS" against themselves.

Well, I am also heavily-invested in lithium companies so this iron phosphate and sodium batteries are a problem. I am also pulling my hair out. Oh, I sold my TSLA shares at 4X sometime ago, so I am okay on that front.

Oh god this guy thinks he knows more about ai and self driving than Elon musk lol. LiDAR sucks hence why everyone is removing it, ask xpeng and nio.

Xpeng nio removing lidar for cars exported to Europe in order to cut cost. They still use lidar for domestic cars.
