Correction. China will *attempt* to take it by force. Several nations say they will assist Taiwan, should it be attacked. The US, Japan, Australia plus others..... The distance between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan is around 100 miles. For a nation whom have *never* actually experienced a naval engagement, and have zero experience of what will be a heavily opposed amphibious landing, they're expecting a lot from their conscript forces. We've already seen how that goes in Ukraine, with Putin's supposedly unstoppable army..... The size of the force needed to take Taiwan will be easily seen by satellite as it is readied for action, which would take days at the very least. The US and Japan for example, would have plenty of time to assemble a group of attack submarines in the Straits of Taiwan, if they haven't already... And even if the PLA pull off a miracle, and actually land on Taiwan and gain a bridgehead, there remains the question of regular re-supply....which of course would be constantly opposed. Both from the air and the sea...... And why does it *have* to be Taiwan that has to unify? Why can't the PLA just declare full democracy, with full, fair and free elections? They'd have full unity then......

Taiwan is official a independant state, not a country. Now if you dont know the difference between both terms I can explain it to you. Just one example. Monaco had a King etc but is not a country either but an indepedant state.
